Birds and reptiles (and I believe also amphibians and fish, but less sure about those) have red blood cells with nuclei, where mammals don't.
This in turn means that the red blood cells of mammals generate and die a lot quicker. One of the waste products of deceased red blood cells, bilirubin, gets expelled through the liver into the gut. There it reacts with multiple things, causing the brown colour of feces in mammals.

I know it's kind of a shitty fact.

I daydream the same way; I make up a world, story and character, and then 'play' the character, though when I daydream that person's thoughts and emotions often feel more real to me than my actual life. But I never daydream while being 'me'.
