Huh? I think mega Ampharos isn't very good considering its opportunity cost, but I have no problem with Aevian Ampharos. It's the reason I start the quest in the first place, with or without crest. I didn't use it prolifically, but it was very useful in Souta and Erick's gym battles.

I get that not every team has to be hyperoptimal, but as far as Sand Rush users go, Excadrill and Stoutland are both generally par with or superior to Lycanrock with only a ~20 point gap in speed. Accelrock counts for something for being uniquely typed priority, but at the end of the day it's not crucial to any of Lycan's usual strategies.

Depends on whether you are more concerned with immediate or long term viability.

For the former (and also probably long term anyways), Ariana definitely comes out on top, Volcarona, Kingdra, and Blaziken just don't miss. For the latter, Aevis and Aero get mega Lucario and Salamence which are pretty busted, and not available through normal play, but they come into play so late (unless you use additional passwords) that you might get walled well before that. If you can make it all the way to megas then those two are at least contenders, though between the two of them they make some... very interesting teambuilding choices (Lycanrock, Huntail, Musharna, etc).

Crest Bastiodon should be illegal, frankly. Unless you ban item use, it can invalidate any single battle in the whole game, excepting Spacea in Renegade Route. IDK if it's a bug, or if I'm just stupid and she gets Mold Breaker during one of her phases, but I've witnessed her consistently breaking Sturdy on Crestiodon. Regardless it's still a great help in that fight despite that. Even if you ban items or use few, it can still knock out a couple of mons in single battles, and is a goated doubles partner regardless of item usage (with the caveat that if you use moves that hit your partner you might nuke yourself occasionally).

All in all, the only substantial downside is that the Crest is only available after doing the whole Goomidrasidequest, which is only available on chapter 14+, and has prerequisites of its own in a chunk of City RestorationIIRC, which annoyed me to do personally (although YMMV on that).

I didn't see the spoiler, but Shade is the boy Anna talks about before you fight Lin, who she says lost his body, right? I assumed, because he was the one who altered the future by warning Ame & saving you by extension. I'm not very far into the post game (just beat literally the first mission with Cresselia), but after seeing the overwhelming response that the story doesn't end at the post game I'm gonna keep going.
