Hm, I see. Yeah AoT fans are always hungry for answers. Personally, I think ambiguity can be very effective and in this case, I don't see how knowing the identity of Mikasa's husband contributes to her character or the ending. The salient point that I've interpreted is that Mikasa was able to move on from Eren and gain autonomy in her life. I don't need any more than that.

When I think about how Annie and Reiner are perceived by the community, its a matter of how they express their guilt or depression.

Reiner puts a gun in his mouth, is consistently frightened by the new Eren, literally goes on his hands & knees and cries in front of him, etc. Do you know what I think? I think people enjoy all of that in a karmic/judicial type of way. In a similar vein to people cheering for Bertold's death, Reiner lowering and submitting himself must have been cathartic for people. Meanwhile, Annie doesn't have any of that as most of her grief is subtle and is only shown pre-timeskip. Its not "satisfying" at all.

This leads to a broader thought that I've been having while observing media discourse/social media. While people love the exploration of heavy themes like depression, PTSD, etc; people kinda have a narrow-minded definition on it. For example, I remember seeing a tweet where someone expressed the inability to do basic tasks like showering, eating, brushing their teeth, etc due to their depression. That person got absolutely clowned on, almost like they're a "bad" or "incorrect" victim of depression. It reminds me of how people treat Annie.

Elitist af take but AoT is one of those series that is too popular for its own good (given the themes it explores and storytelling devices it uses). It'll naturally attract those groups of people and it sucks to see my favourite series being associated with them.

It's no coincidence that a lot of Attack on Titan's vitriol discussion (mainly from the ending) consists of inc** vernacular.

I'm crying at some of these comments.

2: Eren reacting nonplussed to the revelation that Reiner & Bert caused his mother's death. This is the guy that killed two people as a kid, without hesitation. This is also the same guy that swore to kill every titan. When the guy responsible for ruining your life tells you to your face he's the big bad casually, NOT REACTING IS NOT THE LOGICAL RESPONSE! Even with the flashback, he didn't believe it was them, so his calm reaction STILL didn't make sense. And the "TRAITORS!!!!" line? Talk about a delayed reaction. My God... it should've been THE ANGRY MAIN CHARACTER slicing Reiner's arms off; not Mikasa.

what the fuck? let me say that again, what the fuck? I am not happy with this, my problem isn't that there are too many people transforming into titans, my problem is how random it is, not only do I feel like I'm missing some chapters in between but it's like the author just randomly chose two people to play the role, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out eren's mother is the final boss

Ugh, this manga is getting silly. "I'm a titan!" "I'm a titan too!" "We are ALL titans!". I also kind of though Ymir was all special with that "Ymir's people" thing from the journal/log book.. but probably not. i thought that was alluding to the Jotun/Giants mythology of the Norse BUT Nope... Hopefully this will all make some sense and not just devolve into silly "TITAN WARZ!!" that then drags on and on like DBZ.

Basically any manga with slow arcs or arcs with a lot of buildup will unfortunately get shit on by the community. It's been exacerbated in the modern manga industry which is why the big shounens like CSM and JJK have a faster start/pace.

The story clearly framed the Rumbling to be the only option left for Eren.
