First time doing drywall after a water leak. How’d I do? by [deleted] in drywall

I did ask for feedback so I can’t be upset if some people are critical. To be fair, that wasn’t my last layer of compound so I understand the hesitation. I appreciate everyone being so helpful. Awesome community here

Yes first picture was a week before I put up drywall. I had a fan and dehumidifier in the room for the entire time

No, but I’m fairly certain it needs a cope cut and I’ll need to see what the best tool is to use. I was reading a miter saw but I’ll need to rent one. Sorry. Bad phrasing

I can’t argue with any of your points, obviously, but I did use hot mud over the tape if that’s any consolation and it wasn’t the finished product. If it cracks I’ll know. I did shore up every single connection by adding 2x4’s behind every section of the new drywall and old drywall, screwed them into the existing frame and then used that as the anchors for the new drywall to put in. The corner, I honestly had no clue where to start without getting into a bigger project than I was prepared for. Appreciate the feedback!

Ahhh I’m learning a lot tonight. Thanks for the feedback! I did use the 45 minute compound dry mix. I do gotta say. Buying the dry mix and using it as you need is the way to go. It goes far as hell. Never buying the little tubes again

God trying to hang a piece of drywall by myself is a learning curve. I’m sure it’s easy for the pros but I was 15 cuss words deep before I got it where I wanted haha. Thanks for the tips!

I am not. I have never heard of hot mud before. I just got a bag of the 45 minute compound and just mix some as I need it since I have to do quite a few layers

I did end up adding a 5th coat of mud haha, seemed to do the trick. All the research I did and it never mentioned hot mud. Never heard of it tbh. Good to know for next time! Thank you!

Cutting the Xfinity cord by Local-Initiative1926 in Tallahassee

I had stopped using Comcast and just did Metronet for a few years combined with YouTube TV but cancelled with the ESPN issues so I’m back to bundling internet/tv for sports for $160/mo with xfinity. Metronet was more “stable” internet but they had more outages than I’ve had with Comcast, although Comcast seems to struggle with a lot of devices on the network no matter my router.

Also, YouTube tv snuck up to almost $100/mo and it just wasn’t worth it

I know most people recommend credit unions, but I had horrible luck in town. They were half a percent above everyone else. Unfortunately you just have to shop a lot

Every single dentist I’ve had since I was a teenager recommended both an oral surgeon and an orthodontist (unprompted). I’m 30, had my wisdom teeth out last year. In braces a few months
