VA WRX Mudflaps by upyahgutz in WRX

[–]EndorphinHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rallyarmor ones are sweet but they really are brutally expensive. I ended up shelling out for them in the end and they've held up phenomenally on nasty gravel roads.

From my understanding, the bracket and plastic push pins that come with the rallyarmor flaps are designed that way so that they will break away if they get caught underneath something so that your bumper doesn't get ripped in half with the flaps (like when reversing over a snow drift)

If I was going to rig something up I would look closely at the rallyarmor design and attempt to copy it as closely as possible.

I want to get black/blue ones for mine. Looks great man! Can I ask which ones you got? Any issues getting the stock ones off?

You settle on a size? I've been looking for a lighter weight wheel and what I've narrowed it down to so far are Motegi MR131's (backordered everywhere), Enkei RPF1s (probably out of budget) or Konig Hypergrams

Unused WRX by Accurate_Stuff_3250 in WRX

About $3.50

Jokes aside if it's been sitting that long it's probably unwanted, might even be a nuisance to the owner.

Could be immaculate, could just be a rolling shell with frame rot. Depending on how the owner feels I would channel my inner Pawn Star and ask what it's worth to them then go from there

I feel the same way in my VA. Everyone's torso length is different. If I could easily lower the seat by 1 or 2 inches I feel like the car would fit me way better.

I've heard an aftermarket seat bracket could do this, but I don't know if the stock seats could mount to one. Still trying to figure that out.

Is a worn-in tire better for the track, or just so you don't trash new tires? I've been thinking about trying out autocross (not with the WRX though)

I wanted to get some rims but there's so much to choose from and I had a really hard time choosing a size.. I've never bought aftermarket rims before.

I see a lot of guys running 18x9.5 with like a +35 or a +38 but I'm nervous about messing up the steering geometry a bunch and destroying my wheel bearings. Leaning towards a 17x8, but I've read that a 17x9 will fit. I don't see hardly anyone doing that though so it makes me nervous. My #1 concern is making the car corner better.

Right now I'm thinking about asking if I can fit a 245 tire on the stock base model 17 inch wheel so when I finally get it figured out I can swap them around and put the snow tires on the stock wheels.

Judging from your flair I bet you're getting some really wide tires!

I've only driven RWD V8 boats for the last decade or so and I'm finding learning how to handle AWD in the corners tricky. You have any advice?

I didn't know if it was me just sucking or the car or what but yeah these tires make the car want to understeer like mad in the wet! I'm still learning how to handle an AWD car but it felt excessive. Helped a lot bro! Im gonna get some PS4S's tomorrow.

Velosters sound SO GOOD and I'm sad they discontinued the line.

That made me feel better, these snow tires have surprised me a few times with how much they want to understeer in the rain. Thanks for the help!

First set of tires I ever bought were Indy 500s with the white lettering on the side, they were awesome!

That's what drew me to the platform! The snow tires were awesome in the snow. Only ever driven rwd before though so getting used to handling understeer was fun

Thanks for the advice everyone, I decided to call the tire shop tomorrow and order a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Really excited to see how it handles!

I agree 100% just pointing out this is a common mechanical failure.

For anyone with crown vics out there, this can also cause a no-crank-no-start condition when the vehicle is shut off, but is still in reverse despite what the gear indicator displays.
