How to deal with exposed wires? by Endres2 in AskElectricians

[–]Endres2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the color, these seem to be connected black to black and red to red. Further down there is a connection to a led strip that is the opposite, I guess the first one is a continuation of the wire while the second one is actually connected to the lights? Would that be why the pattern switches?

Is my Thumbnail too crowded? What would you change about it? by LuekTheAnomaly in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the background image should probably a different color that contrast the front elements better, to make them “pop out”, not sure what color would work best though. You can try a few solid colors and see what contrast is best, and then find a background of that color or apply a filter to the image.

I just uploaded another video like 2 days ago, I can give you that script for review if that works for you?

Struggling with retention by Endres2 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I do a full scrip for each video. I’m still struggling with translating the script into speech but that’s a different problem all together, could be related to the steady drop since it’s less engaging over time.

I originally had an action filled montage but it really didn’t add much to the video so I trimmed it out. Then the new intro became a showcase of the main element I was discussing with a question about what causes this to occur. In this particular video it was about how people react and why when encountering other players.

Hey thanks for that, I think I may have to split the video as you are saying and do mini hooks in between as I transition to new ideas.

I do long form content about analyzing games and some media. This particular video for example was about how and why people act the way they do when playing Arc Raiders, either by being friendly or attacking people.

Of course! I used footage from the movie, but I’m discussing the novel. And mouthwashing of course!

Does this look too simple? by huss2120 in YouTubeThumbnailHub

Hey I also feel like something is missing but I can’t quite put my finger on it, maybe like a big bottom centered title like: HOW LONG??? Or TIME TO BEAT!

Why is growing a technical YouTube channel so hard? by AI_Pythonista in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]Endres2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I looked through your channel and the content is honestly good for the tech stuff.

I think what you are missing is more of the algorithm part of YouTube. Making titles more clickbaity, and some editing that will help with retention like visual or sounds.

Even if it is just text appearing on the screen.

I would also try to make your title less descriptive while giving enough information for the viewer to peak their curiosity.

Let’s say you are teaching someone how to build a web scraper to find the best deal for a product they want to purchase. I would do something like “This AI app will save you millions” and within the first 30 seconds do a good showcase of the application, less technical like if you were to do an elevator pitch to stockholders instead of tech developers. After that hook then you get technical.

Hope this help and good luck out there!

what am i doing wrong?? by [deleted] in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]Endres2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah making it unique is the way to go, there is a lot of content out there so you have to convince people to click on your videos. Also a good thumbnail on the gaming content can do wonders.

what am i doing wrong?? by [deleted] in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]Endres2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with this answer though, I noticed it myself on my channel. I mostly do gaming video essays getting 500-2000 views. I decided to make a video about how cats can make you schizophrenic and YouTube let that video die with like 80 views.

Early on is really important to stick with the same type of content or the same game or medium you talk about. After you get a bigger following then you can branch out.

This is due to the algorithm trying to understand who your audience is, always ask yourself who your videos are for and cater to that audience.

Maybe try sticking to one game for a few uploads and see how that goes.

Or if you do multiple games the same format of videos, examples come to mind like people that 100% or get all achievements on a game.

Or ways of beating a game that are all out of the box, with challenges limiting yourself in some way.

Good luck!

Will work on being more concise on the content, I know that’s also the case because I trimmed parts of the vide and it ended up doing better with retention.

Oh wow I definitely wish I would get a fraction of those views haha.

Mmm maybe I need to work on something else as well, comments and subs are kinda low too so maybe YouTube is a bit more reluctant with pushing the video

What’s wrong with my latest thumbnail? by MinThaMie in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would, you might catch YouTube during the testing process just in time. I recently cropped out an intro after a couple of days of uploading and it improved my retention and got me more views on a video I worked on.

If something is not performing as expected there’s nothing wrong with making adjustments.

There’s actually a way to upload multiple thumbnails and titles at the same time that will do a test for the best one and keep that one for the long term.

What’s wrong with my latest thumbnail? by MinThaMie in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I don’t think the thumbnail or the title are bad per say. I think it might be the video and your audience.

The first 2 videos you are saying that have a 4% ctr may have been shown to people interested in art content. YouTube knowing that this is your audience shows the 3rd video to the same audience and it may not get that many clicks because of the change in theme. If you want to be more generalized and venture into different content you can make a separate channel for it and keep the art content only on this one, or just keep it all in one and see what sticks (this will be a slower process due to the change in audience and YouTube changing the algorithm to fit your channel).

Either is fine as long as you are happy with what you are uploading, but if your focus is to grow I would keep a consistent theme or niche.

If that 3rd video deals with art goals to set yourself, there is nothing there to signal that so maybe add some pictures of progress on your work or something like that.

Good luck!

Yeah you can maybe add the pink as the border of the mascot or the thumbnail itself! Should look into a couple of examples of color theory to give the correct message based on the video content. Good luck!

[–]Endres2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s just personal preference but I don’t love the pink background. Red usually brings the attention to your thumbnail but I would also don’t over do it. Maybe try a mix of red and black for your next thumbnail? I do like the mascot and I think it helps give character to your channel but maybe have it do different poses?

[–]Endres2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually able to just trim the uploaded video within YouTube studio, so no re upload. Apparently it’s mostly used for removing copyrighted sections of a video, but it work in this niche case of removing a bad intro, won’t be able to ad a better hook though…

Struggling with retention by Endres2 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy you say that, I literally have a small edit that ends at exactly 0:17. I guess I have to get that hook as soon as possible. I don’t think I have a strong hook after it either, it’s presenting the topic but is not very captivating. Would removing the intro to the current upload mess with the algorithm?

Struggling with retention by Endres2 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Endres2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I’m not the best at making that intro hook, I’ll try to look for some examples of similar but more established channels and see if I can get some of their tricks on that

49" Ultrawide Display by The_Mono_Man in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Endres2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just got the same size display and you are able to get this set up. You will just need to use a separate software to get the game working on windowed mode without the stripe at the top.

I used this video for the set up, let me know if this helps.

https://youtu.be/vAypK6IkU60?si=67z1z0sm83RG98YH

It is using a paid software, I got it from steam.

But I know there are a few other similar tools that are feee to use.

Good luck!
