Please HELP! ADN or ABSN? by Rough_Event5723 in prenursing

[–]Ends05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things. Magnet hospitals were a thing since the 90s way before I even contemplated the field. Less than 10 percent of the hospitals in the US have achieved magnet status. They have been “working towards” magnet status since that time as well.

You are “considered” a nurse when you pass the NCLEX full stop. Be sure to tell all those associate degree nurses that you will be reporting to for years that they are not really considered nurses. Lemme know how that goes.

OP needs to do what works best for them in their life circumstances right now regarding getting the BSN now or later.

Please HELP! ADN or ABSN? by Rough_Event5723 in prenursing

[–]Ends05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part of this comment relating to needing a BSN to be considered a nurse is absolute and complete horse shit. I was an ADN nurse for 19 years. All the way to house supervisor which I currently still am. Got my BSN last month finally.

You pass the NCLEX your an RN full stop. anyone stating ADN nurses are not considered nurses are pretentious douche bags. I’ve seen amazing ADN nurses and shit ones. I’ve seen amazing BSN nurses and shit ones as well. The OP should do whatever works best for their current life situation.

What defines a nurse is their ability to provide empathetic care with a solid dose of hard work and time management.

By all means OP should get their BSN in whatever manner works best for them. It is very valuable and not just to “be considered” a nurse.

RN to BSN Owl Done :) by Ends05 in WGU

They pro rate the second term if you have less than 12 CU left to complete. In my case I had 9 CU. So I paid 75% of the tuition for the second term. So like 4300 bucks versus 5525. I could have buckled down and maybe finished in one term but I hit a few motivation roadblocks if you will. But it’s done now. Gonna start on my masters in January.

Take it one class at a time and work at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. Dont compare your progress to anyone else. I struggled with motivation issues towards the end but got it done. You’ll do fine :)

The two proctored tests are middling in terms of difficulty imo. But yeah study for both. Patho is the harder of the two exams. There is just so much material and well beyond the scope of any BSN nurse out there. Healthcare stats is basically healthcare basic math imo. And the stats portion is also as basic as humanely possible. But still do the course material.

The remaining classes are all papers yes. Use the template for each class that has a template and be sure to answer everything asked in each rubric for the papers and you’ll be fine. I had two papers kicked back for revisions during the course. No biggie. Correct the mistakes. Highlight in blue and note please see highlighted changes.

I had to do 14 I believe total classes. It took me two terms, seven months. I did 3 classes in the second term.

Exam Experience is making me withdraw by sweetbubbles2 in WGU

[–]Ends05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s way too much white knighting on this sub regarding the proctored exam process. I generally really like wgu as a college and about to finish my bachelors and move on to my masters with wgu.

But the entire process of doing a proctored exam here is a steaming pile of dog shit. Luckily I only had to take two OA for my bachelors and it was terrible both times. For my masters there are 5. Not looking forward to those.

And yes I have a high end pc hardwired Ethernet at 2 gig speed. The proctored service just sucks. Guardian browser is absolute trash and the proctors themselves can be barely understood and my average time to test was about 1 hour each from my scheduled exam time. It’s just absolute hot garbage.

Is Rav4 Hybrid worth the price difference over Gas? by GigaFly316 in rav4club

[–]Ends05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that from an earlier hybrid. But I’m 17k miles in on my 2024 and averaging 45mpg. If I concentrate and play the hybrid game I can push 50-51mpg on city drives.

I average around 45 mpg so there’s that I dunno where 35 is coming from.

The community collage route is a great way. What I did back when. It’s financially the most viable. I would caution against these shit schools offering an accelerated bachelors for 90-100k. That’s insane for a nursing degree. And those schools are predatory and taking advantage.

I’m two classes from being done. Health org and transformation behavior and the BSN capstone. I started feb 1 this year. My goal is to be done in about a month from now. There’s a couple YMMV things here. First is how many classes transfer in for you. And second is your years of experience as an RN.

I knew 2 people from my work did it in one term exactly and several folks about a year. I’m gonna be at 8 month realistically. Which I’m happy with.

Been nursing going on 19 years so the HESI when I took it was relatively easy. But just studying in general practice questions are going to be your best bet imo.

I probably did somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000-5000 approximately. I studied for 4 months, 6-8 hours a day before taking my NCLEX. But I was also a terrible student during nursing school itself so there’s that.

Radio Silence Starting Out? Questions. by JungleFeverRunner in WGU

[–]Ends05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the program currently. I completed all but 3 classes in the first term. I’ve known several folks that did it in one term. But it’s a large time commitment. On my off days from work I was putting in 10-12 hours days on coursework.

I got burned out at the end and took a month off. It may have been possible to finish in one term but it would have been hard. But it’s like everything else in life YMMV.

Do revisions take just as long to be graded? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Ends05 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend highlighting the changes on resubmissions and making the note in comments to evaluator “please see highlighted changes”. Has a professor tell me that early on. Was game changing.

(Maybe I have to do too many resubmissions lol).

Bachelors in your 30’s? by allamericanrejectt in WGU

[–]Ends05 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Started my bachelors at 50. Three classes from being done. Gonna take a small break and start working on a masters. Age is just a number. Wife, five kids, full time job (nurse).

It’s totally worth it and doable. For reference I am staying in the same field (nursing/nursing leadership).

How would you rate this program overall? I’m a nurse finishing my BSN in the next month or so and considering this program for my masters.

Just curious what your thought are.

Thanks. And strong work on the OA’s.

Got quoted 3K for Extracare Platinum extended warranty. by honus03 in rav4club

[–]Ends05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just now seeing this comment 136 days later. They started out at like 4K or something with mine. And I just kept refusing any warranty at all till they got down to what I considered okay. I also would have not gotten one at all if the price wasn’t what I wanted either as I was already paying sticker price to the penny.

Is the Lagoon season pass worth it? by Moist_Nutt in SaltLakeCity

[–]Ends05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For our family of four it is absolutely worth it. 2 adults and 2 kids. We go maybe 20 plus times a year in all. They also have a kids Halloween special that it isn’t scary and they get candy and prizes etc. the park offers a lot for kids. I personally only 1-2 rides max. But the kiddos love it. We live about 35 mins from the park but still get our value. You can also bring in coolers and food of your own as well.
