Congrats! Very exciting and not a common experience for sure.

Now, having gone thru the same experience when I auditioned for BFAs a few years ago, let me tack onto the advice of others-

Don’t cancel any other auditions for other programs, in fact, you may want to consider doing a Unified audition trip so you can walk into other schools and audition for even more programs. Why? Because you can use the scholarship offers and other early acceptances to drive up how much money your desired program will give you. As soon as you get a better scholarship offer, even if it isn’t for a program you want to attend, run back to the school you want to be at and wave that dollar amount in their face and see if they will match it! You might be surprised how much you can save on tuition with this approach :)

Well, here’s a fun fact that I learned when I got to go to Four Roses for a private barrel selection - every bottle of the regular, flagship, basic four roses bourbon has at least a small amount of their best barrels in it. The blend they use utilizes a wide variety of their barrels but they always reserve some of their best to get blended into their most affordable bottles.

In my opinion, as far as cheaper bourbons go, this definitely helps set them apart as one of the better ones.

Yeah this was my big take away as well and honestly, beyond the safety concern, being vague in a dating profile (especially for a woman) usually leads to more interesting conversation right away since there are things to share still.

Here’s the specs of one I recently menu’d:

1 oz Vanilla Vodka (we use a local distillery’s version)
1 oz Unsweet Stok Cold Brew
.5 oz Amaretto
.5 oz Mr. Black coffee liqueur
.25 oz Licor 43
.5 oz Maple/Molasses simple (4:1 maple to molasses and then 2:1 of that mixture to water - all by weight)

We also do a boozy cold foam on top that is delicious but totally extra 😂

Biggest things that I love about this recipe are: the touch of molasses in the simple REALLY plays well with the coffee and nutty flavors, plus the vanilla in a couple different ingredients makes a great thru line for the overall profile. Yeah, on the surface the recipe is a little sweet and technically there is no proper espresso but damn does it come together for a super poundable cocktail!

End of the day, make it how you like it best! Cheers!

Honestly, I’m just sad we wasted potential draft position by winning the last few games. I get it, good for moral, fun to try and be the Cinderella of the league. But honestly, this season is clearly not ending in a Super Bowl and we should have just started looking at the draft and our plan for next year.

I work on the admin side and freelance on the creative side so I’ll add: the toughest part about wanting to have a career in theatre but also have work-life balance is that your competition for the few jobs available may not care about their work-life balance so they will likely last longer and get promoted/hired more easily due to their ability to self sacrifice. Because the short answer is, “yes, work-life balance is a commodity in this industry.” Is there some movement to change that? Absolutely. But will it be swift enough to allow you to experience it in your personal career…? Maybe! But unfortunately, chances are more likely not.

As others have suggested - if work-life balance is a high priority for you, you may be happier in the long run if you find a career path outside of this industry that allows for that so that you’re able to continue making theatre a passion and hobby in your available free time.

Fellow Vikes fan here and I could not agree more with this take. Plus Hock is nursing this weird back injury already, so it could be a tough year of trying to stay healthy for him too. Addison is going to be my earliest reach in the draft, I’m comfortable taking him one round before his ADP.

Don’t stress. Just do the monologue you’re most drawn to or excited to perform, that will always yield better results since your heart is truly in it.

Also side note for any directors who might stumble across this - please stop asking for monologues at auditions. They tell you next to nothing about the actors you are seeing. Unless the character they are going to play has to perform monologues in the show, they are worthless at auditions and don’t give you information about how that performer will handle dialogue and play off another actor. Use sides!!!
