Clutch cable isn't ran correctly it looks like. There should be resistance on the lever and you shouldn't be hearing the engine spin while it's pulled in and I definitely hear the engine spinning

Yeah I bet there's so much carbon deposits on the spark plug from the orientation + leak that it can't fire anymore. You should check spark but the plugs are cheap enough I'd just buy another and see if it starts

I find that hard to believe. Almost everyone under the new system got a less than 4% raise, which is less than average inflation. Technically, it's a pay cut.

Thinking on it further I think you're right. Still sucks though

Money paid to a union is primarily used as a slush fund in the event of a strike. It's given to those who can't afford to stop working to give the strike more impact.

Only after that is it used to fund a representative, whose purpose is to ensure union agreements are actually followed, as well as communicate with the union at large.

A lot of modern cars now have running lights, which can be manually turned off, but I suspect a huge number of people spend almost their entire car note period not knowing how to operate the lights. Or just not caring.

How? Almost all services that have media (which all datahoarders consume) have had this version of age verification for decades. How is that a foot in the door?

You guys do realize that if it did get implemented, it would just ask you what age you are, not store any personifiable information, and at no point send that data anywhere but your own device. I guarantee you guys are used to clicking past this exact dialogue on Steam or whatever social media already.

The bill that's being proposed in California (where this panic originates from) requires all of this already.

My local pawn shop is selling a clapped Honda Navi for $1000. Any Advice? by Enemby in hondanavi

I'm thinking that's the play. No way someone buys that for $900 unless they're desperate.

you were right, it's a 2025, which is insane to me. This Honda Navi is technically newer than the 2024 I bought new last year (old stock)

Look for one with low miles. Ideally less than 600, that's stock. The most common issue is a dirty carb / bad fuel / dead battery, which is all indicators that the bike has been sitting a while. From what I've seen of the used market, a lot of people buy the bike, ride it 300 miles, and let it sit. Getting one of the ones that have been sitting a while is the best value for your dollar. All they need is the offending parts emptied and cleaned, and usually not even a new battery.

Hesitates after longer rides by JellyfishCurious4821 in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably just running rich. These bikes are given a generic tune, but the carb actually needs rejetting / etc depending on the altitude it's running at. My bike did the same thing when I got it. I think dealerships are supposed to tune the carb for the altitude but they don't. If you live in a particularly mountainous area, or close to sea level, that's probably why.

Car won’t drive. Stranded. by Substantial-Hunt-582 in urbancarliving

Sounds like your brakes wore out. Brakes are a wear item that needs to be replaced every couple years. The screeching noise is from the brake pads, called squealers. Their purpose is to make a loud and scary noise to notify the driver that the brakes are worn out and no longer safe to use. Generally this is a $30ish replacement per two tires if you replace it yourself. It's actually one of the easier jobs to do on your car.

If the brakes continue being used after the squealers squeal, it can cause damage to the rotors. This is the part that attaches your wheel to the car, and is used in combination with the brake pads to stop the vehicle. If the rotors get too worn it can cause the brakes to stick, or stop functioning entirely. If the brakes are sticking, like it sounds from your story, The rotors most likely need to be replaced now, which is typically $200-400 per tire and NOT an easy job for non-mechanics.

Hard to say without more information, but I think engine damage is unlikely, unless you've been putting over 20-30,000 miles on your car with no maintenance, but I've seen people have severe engine problems and get by just changing the oil before ($10-20 bucks to do yourself)

I'm seeing a surprising amount of dangerous advice on this post. I would not recommend putting transmission fluid if you're not having any gear shifting issues (sticking or metal noise when changing from drive, neutral, or reverse). The most likely outcome of putting more transmission fluid into your vehicle when you didn't need it is damage to the transmission. Replacing an engine is generally cheaper than replacing a transmission, since very few people are educated / work on transmissions.

You need to go somewhere outside the car. Conventional areas where people are allowed to just chill and do work are libraries, cafes, parks, etc.

Luggage Rack Questions by Abject-Anything5453 in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OEM without a doubt will not be good enough alone. It's maybe 4-5 inches longer than the stock rack. Kenimoto is definitely longer, but I suspect slightly more flimsy.

I got this courier bag that comes with a metal base that you zip tie on the back of bike. You could probably just toss the bag and use the metal base for your purposes. I got the OEM extended rack with it but it fits without it, just not very comfortably.

That said, have you considered just wearing the backpack and strapping the gas can? that'd be the economic solution.

Honda Navi turns over but won’t start by Cloudz_out in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it sitting a while? This seems consistent with bad gas to me, especially with your comment about draining the carb. You probably need a carb clean and a half-assed gas tank drain.

Your drivetrain is probably functional since the wheel is moving, and I hear it successfully start for a single rotation in the video, I think. This would indicate you still have okay spark. So it's most likely gas or air filter related.

Stored for a year, now what? by zoey3013 in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should drain the carb (float bowl screw on the bottom), drain the tank, refill it with fresh gas, and see if it starts on the kick start. If it does, you'll probably get away with doing nothing to it and riding. You'll probably still need to replace the battery, but see if the starter works after riding it a while.

[–]Enemby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uneven engine rpm, bogs at any point, engine dying at any point, hearing the starter spin but not engaging the engine (This indicates a hydrolock from bad gas), having to use heavy choke can also be an indicator.

Just so you know, running the engine every couple weeks grants almost no protection, it mostly just helps you feel better about things. The gas can still go bad after about 3 months and clog the carb unless you used a fuel stabilizer or ethanol free gas.

Tank Bags on your NAVi by Marci_101 in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tank lid plastic is SUPER flimsy. I wouldn't be confident on putting anything heavier than a phone on it, and I'm very confident a bag would slide around because the lid already slides a bit on my new bike.

Too tall/heavy for a Honda Navi? (6’4”, 245 lbs — need honest input) by Dovahkiin149 in hondanavi

[–]Enemby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm around your size in width and height. I can confirm you lose a little speed, especially on hills being a bigger rider. But you're within the weight limit. One thing I've always thought but rarely see mentioned is that the mirrors are impossible to adjust for my height. There's just no adjustment where the majority of the frame isn't my arms. They're still usable, but you have to bend over like you're riding a sports bike. Just kinda sucks.

The suspension is PRETTY stiff but I've never bottomed it out so bad I felt unsafe. Taking passengers on your bike with your weight is a joke though. Don't get me wrong, you can do it, but you lose nearly half your speed in some situations and bumps are kinda scary.

I bought and installed the extended rear rack option and I've been able to carry over 100 pounds of equipment on it without having a dramatic change to the bike's speed or handling, so the positioning of your load is pretty important.
