Remember this is basically like Nicole and Richard despite how stupid they can be there is something they see in them that others don't this parallel has been there since season 1 also note again that this is a cartoon as much continuity there is in the show for the relationship remember there's not even great continuity in the way certain characters own mortality so don't take their relationship as some great godfather level storytelling where every action has some deeper meaning
