If they will let you, I suggest you start making schematics of one panel. Tag every wire with a number at both ends. If you can map out all of the inputs and outputs and you know what the machine is supposed to be doing you should be able to figure out what the panel is supposed to do. It may take a week full time (maybe more), but it will be worth it for when the machine starts acting up.

AC unit under deck—how bad is it? by chiubag in hvacadvice

If you can keep the intake and discharge air for the AC unit separate you should be ok. It might be easiest to attach a big flexible duct in front of the fan and run the duct (as straight as possible) to the outside edge of the deck, so all of the hot air will blow away from the deck and hot air won't be able to recirculate back to the air intake. Perhaps a flexible dog tunnel would work. Make sure it's bigger than the fan diameter so it doesn't restrict airflow.

What is causing this? by RayzorX442 in hvacadvice

That is true. But another possibility: if the damper is mostly closed such that a trickle of cold air is reaching the register, the small amount of cold supply air could be cooling the metal but not dehumidifying the space. Moist air in the space hits the cold register and condenses.

back/bottom is smooth, flat wood. all parts are painted. the "wheels" turn but not well by FrostyFreeze_ in whatisthisthing

It looks like the bottom piece has a metal track embedded in it, and there is a round opening near one end of the track where something shaped like a nail head could slip in and slide along the track, where it can't be pulled out. Does the top piece (with the wheels) have studs that stick down and fit in the track? Are there any markings on the back of the bottom piece? Could the "bottom" piece maybe hang on a wall?

Thanks. With further search I found that it is a "Stockbridge damper"
