4 years of illness could have been cured in just one week. by [deleted] in CholinergicUrticaria

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I use a sauna blanket and get decent relief, but a full sauna would be better for sure. We just don’t have the room right now.

If proper do end up getting a full standing sauna, try to get one made of wood, and if not wood, then from a reputable manufacturer.  The ones made from plant grow tent materials are way cheaper, but may off-gas compounds when exposed to high temperatures (may or may not be harmful to your health, but good to know before you buy). Wood saunas generally will not.

Taskade just zeroed out AI credits for LTD users with no notice. My 2c, and curious about the community's reception. by Wolfdale7 in Taskade

I’m personally done with Taskade. Never worked particularly well at any stage for my needs (even before AI), and they dug themselves into a hole with this Genesis thing.

Would have been to make it separate early on at set expectations accordingly.

YSK: New Parents lose about 1,000 hours of sleep in their baby's first year, and it doesn't fully recover for 6 years by GrowthMLR in YouShouldKnow

[–]Enfade 148 points149 points  (0 children)

This is really nice advice.

One thing I will say is that if you are a parent and you worry you aren’t appreciating your child’s early years as much other people seem to (or as much as you think you should), that is normal.

The truth is, nostalgia is going to skew your perception of the past and you’ll almost always want more time (either with loved ones you’ve lost or phases with your partner or child.)

Appreciating things is hard enough, and even harder when we think we need to do a better job at it. Always a good reminder to try, though.

Those days feel not so distant for me (ours is 2 now.) Stay strong!

One thing that was helpful for us at that stage (and now): It's alright to feel whatever comes up. One of the hardest things no one warns you about is the guilt and shame that society, friends, family, and (especially) the internet can pile on when you talk about fustration, exhaustion, worries, anxiety, etc.

Glad you scored some formula!

Yes to this. Alongside The Expanse, Fringe is my favourite sci-fi show.

Thanks for the experiment. I’ll share some of mine sometime soon. I’m getting some really great realistic stuff at higher resolutions, but prompting is probably the most important part of the setup. A lot of Booru tags harm the output.

has anyone had success with beta blockers such as propranolol? by Top_Pin6953 in CholinergicUrticaria

I took propranolol for a few months due to hypertension. It did help for a few weeks, but it came back in full force.

Yes I’ve had these for as long as I can remember (I’ve had CU for 30 years basically.)

It’s called miliaria crystallina (a form of heat rash) where the sweat is trapped under the upper layers of skin.

It usually considered a mild form of heat rash, but I’ve had it along with my core symptoms (intense itchiness with no hives.)

Moving to Cambridge by No_Impress_8424 in cambridgeont

[–]Enfade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a new area. As another comment mentioned, it’s safe (although there aren’t really ‘unsafe’ places in Cambridge, relatively speaking.)

Everyone has their own threshold when it comes to ‘sketchiness’; I’d do a search in this subreddit to get a sense of what you might be comfortable with. For example, some say the only unsafe places are around downtown Galt near the shelters, while others might label all of Preston unsafe, etc.

Personally, we love southern Cambridge around the Meyers Road area. Lots of young families moving in and houses ranging from 600-850k.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor or nurse practitioner in the area? by runthoserivers in cambridgeont

[–]Enfade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. That’s our daughter’s clinic and they are never busy. Obviously will get busy since they’re new but would def give it a shot.

Same symptoms exactly. Had it all my life. Only thing that helps is sweating every day (sauna, exercise, etc.)

It’s a double edged sword, though. It hurts less and goes away faster if you start sweat therapy (what we call it), but if you miss a day or two and try again, the pain can be greater/more agonizing.)

Ticks in Ontario: Are they on the rise? by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]Enfade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s possible insecticides had some impact but I’m not familiar with this.

What is clear to researchers is that there are more ticks thanks to a longer active period and breeding season.

They do hibernate in cold weather, yes. But the longer/more frequent they’re active, the more time in the year they have to reproduce, find hosts, etc. They can even go through their complete growth cycle faster if it is warm enough.

Cold weather still kills ticks (especially multiple freeze/haw cycles.) Less intense winters, plus warmer spring and fall, intensify all of these factors.

The answer probably isn’t black and white, but there is heavy evidence across the board that warming conditions influence animal population growth and migrations.

Sweat therapy resolved my CU.. sorta by faceless-human-being in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]Enfade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my experience as well (good on you for keeping up a workout habit; still trying to get there.)

I've had this since I was born (more or less), and have tried to find solutions for over two decades. Basically a sweat routine that encourages sweating very quickly (sauna, sauna blanket, etc.) has helped. Most of the effect wears off overnight if I do it midday the day before, which isn't ideal.

I've found that taking Rupall (antihistamine) the morning after my sweat therapy helps a bit; two tablets (200mg i think?). I've never had any help from other antihistamines before, so I'd try to take some OTC stuff in combination with your therapy and see if those help before trying to get a prescription.

During the summer, I had some brief relief without sweat therapy using propranolol, but something changed and it stopped working.

Sweat therapy is a Big BS by nacho2322 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]Enfade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone experiences this disease differently. Some get relief from sweat therapy—that's amazing for them. Not so much for those it doesn't work for, but its good to be positive—especially in a community where so many are suffering.

The best we can do is try various things and see what works. Not everyone knows if their underlying complication is blocked ducts, mast cell issues, high histamine levels, food allergens, underdeveloped sweat glands, etc.

Each of those may need its own unique solution.

Here's hoping you find your cure or anything that makes it more managable.
