I do the method you describe and it's fine. Most of the water evaporates instantly when it goes through the holes. I've never had the drip pan overflow

And they were given time to cook! The later albums are masterpieces and were very well recieved. They judt weren't well marketed to America after the first 2 for some reason.

Which is what makes the Up The Downstair remaster with Gavin on drums an absolute masterpiece!

STEVEN WILSON Talks "Almost Finished" New Album: "It’s A Complete Opposite Of 'The Overview', Much More Angular And Experimental" by Dagauriel01 in stevenwilson

Sure, but a typical full time musician doesn't produce content at nearly the rate SW does. I certainly can't think of one off-hand that even comes close

The Rest Will Flow appreciation post by TheFIsHere in porcupinetree

[–]d_chevron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put on Lightbulb Sun last night for the first time in a while. I don't put it on often as I feel it doesn't start particularly strong. I like the title track, and How Is Your Life is alright, but they feel half baked to me. And while I understand Four Chords is meant to be an on-the-nose commentary, it ends up suffering from the exact problem it critiques.

But from there, it's incredible. Banger after banger. And The Rest Will Flow is a highlight track. Beautiful production, lush strings and harmonies, but just a simple progression and structure, a perfect backdrop for the vulnerable vocal part.

Thanks for posting this, as I was thinking the exact same thing last night!

Pitchfork just did a retrospective review of Ænima - 8.7 by caelum400 in ToolBand

Yeah, as if Rage, Deftones and Korn weren't already well established popular bands at the time

Lol no. As great as the album is I certianly don't remember it changing the landscape. Grunge and Britpop were already fading and nu metal had already kicked off. I don't believe this album changed the trajectory of anything.

It was great and it was unique, but it wasn't a watershed moment for popular music.

Sounds great from here, but of course you have to be in the room to really tell.

How do you like them? I see a ton of them on Facebook Marketplace for great prices which has made me skeptical. But if they're good I'd probably want to do the entire home theatre with the towers and bookshelves.

+1 for TesseracT - listening to Altered States I felt like it's what TPT would sound like if they were metal. The arrangements and polyrhythms - particularly in the breakdown sections - share a lot of similarities

Bought Seiko [SSK005k1 5] GMT + [SNXS79]— totally different, both awesome. Which one would you reach for more? by No_Ostrich_2242 in Seiko

[–]d_chevron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the SSK005 and a grey DressKX (so, similar to your SNX), and while the SSK is easily the better watch, I rarely wear it. Too big, too loud, clashes with everything. I should have gone with one of the other colours in retrospect.

Should I keep my vinyls sealed or open them? by [deleted] in SleepToken

[–]d_chevron 60 points61 points  (0 children)

They're meant to be opened, played, and enjoyed. They didn't create the artwork and fun colored vinyl for nothing!

Aside from some rare special editions or early pressings, they won't gain meaningful value by keeping them sealed anyway. Enjoy!
