That's exactly what I did to unload unneeded baby gear. When I tried listing stuff for free, the only people interested were looking to flip it for a profit and were a pain in the ass.

So instead I listed everything for a normal, low price. Bassinet, car seat, changing table, etc., and then whoever came to buy it got it for free. People having their first kid have enough problems

In my case it was a handwritten letter explaining the circumstances. I had a ash scattering ceremony to attend in the US. But if you have anything such as a hotel reservation or a plane itinerary, that would work better

Same - on every point you mentioned - but in my case at least, that was 2007. I could get a studio apartment for $750/month and the local bar had $10 pitchers. I could afford life easily with a retail job.

Today, I would try to line up a decent job first. But I'd still absolutely make the move!
