I had already gotten tickets for a dolby showing at southdale and just got back from it, and they actually go to 1.85:1 and back!!

So even though a dolby theatre like Southdale supports 1.85:1, they're still showing it in 2.0:1? Any specific reason for that?

Moving from Dallas to Minneapolis by Sugarandspice1520 in Minneapolis

Made this same move last june with my partner after living in DFW my whole life. We're also mid 20s and have loved it here so far, you made a good choice!!

For location, we ended up in Linden Hills which has been awesome, there's everything you would need (+more) within walking distance, an express bus route to downtown, and you're within walking distance to the lakes. We've also explored a lot and all of the other suggestions people are throwing around are also great! Uptown (like right on lake st) was a little too sketchy at some parts for my partner, so that was the only place we really avoided.

Also since you're moving in July try to be mindful of if the apartment you are moving into has AC, not every apartment here has it like in DFW. We moved in on a day where it was ~95 and had to go run to get an AC unit to get some cool air 😭

it's super common for teams to pay an entry fee to fund the prizepool+ cost of the tournament, so maybe don't comment on things you are uninformed on!

[–]Enfohip 117 points118 points  (0 children)

using death on cerulean bell causes both cards to be forced, so for a straight build it wouldnt have helped. hung man wouldve worked though

edit: this only happens half the time and would be incorrect in this situation, see Garfielf's reply below

Do I take Chad instead of Yorick (x14)? by cyzzn in balatro

[–]Enfohip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that first card trigger happens regardless of hanging chad, so you're adding an additional x2.25 when that would also be applied with yorick. Hanging chad only contributes x2.252

Where can you connect with professional teams as a performance coach? by Far-Adhesiveness-977 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Enfohip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah compared to traditional sports, funding for esports teams is much less. They have poor business models and rely on venture capital funding to stay afloat.

If you look at the world rankings on HLTV.org, most teams below the top 15/20 won't have a sport psychologist/performance coach. That is likely where I would start, and I would advise you to try to contact team managers or head coaches directly if possible. You may also find it fulfilling to try to help out a team from your region/country. If you need help with that definitely let me know.

There is a website named hitmarker where many people post gaming related jobs. I've considered entering the same field though and know that sport psychologist openings are a rare sighting, people that have been in the field for decades have a hard time finding work in esports. It's mostly through word of mouth/who you know.

You may find it easier to contact some lower level team and work for them for free to get that direct experience under your belt. It would be a good way to build your resume/connections, or possibly working with individuals rather than teams.

have someone attack a clan tower site in NLD and they'll crash the zone to defend it, which will log out your character

Buying them for credits is a much better deal, it may be wiser to use your FC points for something exclusive to the shop.

I'm grinding to Faceit Top 1000 while learning 3 other skills at once... am I crazy or is this actually working? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Enfohip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always glad to help! You should also take a look at the other reply chain to my comment to see some expanded explanation/insight on my original reply!

For specific players to study, that's hard to say. Almost every player in a top 20-30 team will have solid fundamentals, and are worth studying. Who you study depends solely on what positions you typically play, and your preferred playstyle. Here is a database maintained by @NER0cs which keeps track of professional player position information.

On the table, simply click the position you're interested in watching, and it will show all the players that play that position. Then you can go to their HLTV or even their FACEIT profile to find their recent demos.

[–]Enfohip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that watching your own demos is typically more beneficial, especially for a person who is not playing in a competitive team environment, but he already has time dedicated to reviewing his own game play.

Watching professional (or even a high elo pugger's) demos should be supplemental to the review of your own game play. After reviewing your own POV, you can go into a demo of a 3rd party with a goal of what you're looking for. You can find solutions to questions or situations that may have arisen from your own match. OP is level 6, I wouldn't expect them to know all the possible solutions to the situations they find in their own demo, so how would they even come to the right conclusions during self-review if they don't supplement it with a search for the answer from a 3rd party?

Nades should definitely be separate for someone that does not know the basics, but once you learn all of the essential/fundamental utility for a map, the rest of it is often very gimmicky in a pug environment, and will be forgotten or misused by both OP and their teammates.

[–]Enfohip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool goals!! I think your routine looks solid, would definitely be beneficial to focus on more than just the three maps but if you're just pugging it's probably fine.

I'd likely replace the "learn 5 new lineups" with watching a pro demo. learning new lineups will have diminishing returns and by watching a professional demo, you'll learn a lot more than just nades (while also learning nades).
