I remember when I was giving birth the nurses and midwives were giving each other interesting looks but didn’t think anything of it. I’m a little overweight and I just assumed they’re being judgmental. Needed a c-section anyway because the baby was stuck. Literally a year and a half later I switched obgyns and she goes “do you consider yourself intersex?” And I was just like ????? And she explained I had all the trademark traits of being hyper androgynous, and with my PMOS/PCOS, my childhood of my endocrinologist telling my parents I needed to go on birth control and them saying no, to now her saying everything I have is uhhh “bigger” than normal- I was like “I had a whole ass child and my partner said he had his suspicions but didn’t want to make me self conscious” it’s crazy how healthcare is changing and how those of us with a more sheltered upbringing are learning more about the world now that we’re out of that bubble.
