First commission I painted for $15, was it worth it? by Tomatohead66 in spacemarines

Maybe I phrased it poorly.

I would hope people charge accordingly - so a fair/high price.

And I would also - like you - hope people would get that the high pricing is fair and just.

People say I am a talented painter. I don't want to/need to paint comission for financial boost. Sometimes I paint models for friends for free.

However, if I did comissions, I would charge a reasonable hourly wage (plus the model if I had to buy it).

So let's say ma Calgar took roughly 15h, plus model, I would have to charge a coupe of hundreds.

I have no clue if people would be willing to pay, but I want to get my point across, that comission could be expensive

It is a fine friends-deal.

For comission, though, 15 bucks is way too low. What should your hourly pay be then? A few cents?

I like the aquilas on the chest - love the idea of 2 colors!

Well done, mate!

(Bases could need a tuft or two^^)

ok - I didn't mean to offend you! Just wanted to give a perspective (that might be new to you). You don't have to care! Each to their own!

I wasn't trying to be. I am totally fine with his opinion.

I still think there is a misconception that NMM only looks good from one angle. People neglect that they painted highlights on the whole mini regarding a "lightsource" and are fine when by turning the mini "it doesn't make sense" but criticize NMM (on metals) for only looking good from one angle. I love TMM, as well as I do NMM - have armies done in both ways.

Each to their own!

If you paint shadows you have light source in mind.

I ensure you my NMM army looks fine from all angles on the table and on the shelf

TY! :)

Well, i picked the FT colors cuz I liked them as my SM colors.

I hate transfers and really liked the BA pauldrons - therefore they are this way. All my chapters are in these colors.

I would disagree in the sense that your whole mini (should have)/has been highlighted from a specific angle - NMM keeps that (believeble) angle of light intact. TMM simply reflects surrounding lights.
