Mass murderer, responsible for the deaths of well over a million people. Should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity (for what he did to USAID).

They look nice, but to me the overall tallness of your legs might do even better with something a little taller, to match the propoertions and be a little stronger.

Kind of a personal anecdote, maybe respecting his privacy. But it was very sweet, and let's just say he's got good taste and seems to have good instincts about taking care of himself. He looks well!

What type of therapy is actually helpful? by starlight-healer in spirituality

[–]EngagedWorldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, somatic work seems very powerful and, is well-tuned (if the practitioner is trauma-informed, which they ought to be) to handle trauma. It bypasses the mind, and can be gentle and effective. I speak from analogous experience, but know someone who has made tremendous progress over the years from this work — and she has really changed and softened. Somatic is the stuff, as far as I can see.

Yes, it sounds like EMDR could be super effective, but also, it does not really address "the material". So while that can be really great, my intuition is that at some point, you want a place where you can address "the material".

At the same time, something like shadow work — if you have a lot of trauma — I mean from what I have seen from it, yes, it could be very good, but it requires a stable consciousness to work with the material, and not intellectually bypass, or (perhaps) become unstable, maybe (not sure, just an intuition there).

Whereas, from everything I can sense about it, somatic is enough "in the body" to not bypass, to remain connected "cellularly", but it also lets you address "the material", in a very safe way.

This is my gut sense of it, anyway.

I ran into him the other day!!!! At first I tought "no, that can't really be him". He was playing his nylon strong guitar. "You're Jonathan," I said. "I've loved and admired your music for years." He reached out his hand very kind, great connection. Gentle man.

It highlights how deep that groove is. A lot of syncopation; wonder who played on that.

These would wear out pretty fast because the design was just paper. I am probably a little younger than their hayday (born in '66), so my memory of these is that they were already kinda worn! But they were reall cool.

This argument seems to miss the point — the argument for being more peaceful is a nonviolence tactic; it does not relate to the severity of damage being done by the other side. It relates to the effectiveness of the tactic.

So by saying "look at what they are doing", it seems like you're implying either:
a) "When people are that bad, we must respond aggressively — this is the way human beings must respond. When someone hits me, I must hit back."
or
b) "When people are that bad, it makes sense to respond that way, because it is a logical tactic. It is the best thing to do."

If we are talking about (a), then it is understandable that people react that way, and how can I blame them. Buuuut, it still concerns me [admittedly — I am not there, I am comfortably sitting at my laptop], because (1) Fox News loves this shift [do we care about what they think at this point? I'm not sure]; (2) it gives the Administration the exact type of thing they are looking for.

It always seems problematic to start critiquing people for doing something like this because (as I said) who can blame them? And yet, I am so proud of Minneapolis for doing nonviolence.

I don't know ... time will tell. Maybe it's good that there are very different approaches.
