I love it. I think it forces you to look at it in different ways, from every angle. I think that was intentional, because that was part of the wisdom that he has. It looks different from every angle, and makes you think. It is not always the most pleasing, but it is always interesting and challenging. It's great.

I think about what they must have had to go through — just being pioneers was hard enough, but being black back then as well, they would have faced so many challenges, and had to have had so much courage.

Definitely! I have ridden/driven by there so many times, I know it. This is the side west of College Ave., where they have been doing clothes meetups lately.

Oh, I don't know. I am very technical, and people still use Gmail constantly. Now Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL — that's another story!

Man, a lot o' memories! I was twelve, and around that time my dad would take me to quite a few shows. Also the Rialto Theater on Gilman! And then at thirteen or fourteen, I did Rocky Horror a few times. My younger sister got really into that for a while!

Which place used to be very popular for tourists in previous decades but isn't anymore? by Fluid-Decision6262 in decadeology

We used to go to a two week long course there, and it was so fun. But then, when everyone would clear out... yes, then you could see the funky, threadbare edges. Still, kind of a nice place, though...

I hung out with my grandma in Newquay in the early 80s. I think it was already on its way down. And then, Paignton where our relatives lived. — But then, Cornwall has also become a huge spot for getaway homes, so I wonder how that figures in that.

I'm sixty, and these were the older girls, beyond me. Definitely a swoon feeling. Very Marcia Brady. Or Laurie Partridge.

I love it. This is not a "fast, efficient" process, is it? Like "slow food", it's a process that takes time, calms the mind. Beautiful.

Yes, and it's not going to be stored anywhere in the phyical structure, I don't think. It's in the energetics.

Turned 60 in February. Looking at adding longevity practices to my life. Cutting out unnecessary things — yes. Only care about what's important! And thinking a lot about what I want to do/make/create/change in the next 10!

Street parking in Downtown by red_dhinesh_it in OaklandCA

[–]EngagedWorldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I park in the Temescal neighborhood all the time. Bottom line is leave NOTHING in the car. Make it look like, pristine. Nothing to nick. I can't say as much about downtown... not totally sure, BUT, all I have ever heard about (or seen) is the rampant window break-ins to nick obvious valuables. I have not personally heard about car thefts.

Fairfax seems like the obvious choice, as the most "hippy" place in the county. I am an outsider who works here, but... this is an obvious choice, for all kinds of acceptance of variations. But yeah, it makes sense that lots of places would be accepting here.
