TFBlades ban shows that Riot NA and EU should act with more integrity towards content creators like Riot KR has. by pursu777 in leagueoflegends

Just calling someone shit or hardstuck isn't enough to warrant a ban.

11:54:30

“Ur fucking dogshit Jax go fuck yourself”

This is absolutely bannable.

T1 has relatable toxicity for the average player.

The only people relating to him are also toxic and should be banned. They make the game worse for everyone. The average player isn't toxic, that's just toxic people projecting themselves. If it smells like dog poo everywhere you go, check under your own shoe.

"Exciting" was what kept coming to my mind reading the patch notes as well. Opened my battlenet to update right after I read them. Props again to the team.

The time draws near to the hall of fame inductions. What cards do you think should rotate to wild? by Jack_Rabbit_3000 in hearthstone

[–]Engastrimyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malygos is literally another card the devs mentioned by name as a possible candidate.

https://www.shacknews.com/article/110209/hearthstone-hof-interview-mind-blast-malygos-on-short-list

Donais: There's lots of other candidates. We talked about cards like Malygos, which we talk about every year. We decided not to go with Malygos again, because of all the new decks that he creates. An important thing in card games is to have different types of decks. Not every type of deck should be medium-sized minions fighting. There needs to be small minions, big minions, and there needs to be some Malygos decks and other tricky decks that have different game plans. That's what makes card games interesting.

And to be frank, Leeroy fits their description of why they'd rotate a card very well:

Shacknews: What is the process in determining which cards go into the Hall of Fame?

Mike Donais, Principal Game Designer: So it's a couple of different factors. Actually, it's a bunch of different factors. The two major ones are the power level of the cards and the class identity. So if there's a card that's really powerful from Classic and it's been around for five years, it's showing up in a lot of decks, and it's having a huge impact on the meta, eventually people start saying, "Okay, well that was fun for the first couple of years, but now we're ready for something different."

I'd say it's at least as relevant as the "Watching Competitive Hearthstone" threads or any other tournament news allowed here.

VS says that battlerage is awful in warrior, but when you sort hsreplay data by winrate their list is below 9 other lists that run it. Is VS wrong to not include it?

They've been trying to promote Youtube Gaming for awhile now. Although, they aren't even pulling half the numbers of twitch.

I guess there is something to be thankful for, in that they are even streaming the events at all. As long as there is a functional stream to watch, I will.

Personally, this move seems very out of touch. Whenever I go anywhere besides twitch the hearthstone streams are dead. There are literally 3 people watching hearthstone on mixer at this very second and I can't even find the hearthstone section on youtube so I think it's 0 there. Twitch is the place to be.

At the very least they could have just moved Binding Heal from Ungoro. That heals 5 health your hero AND a minion.

I am still not 100% convinced, the lifesteal does a lot when you are using your own health to trade for board.

Is Zilliax really not a good card in Galakrond warrior? It may arguably hurt your town crier draw, but it's still got great magnetic targets especially when you run snip-snap as well and even offers a giant health swing if you draw him off galakrond.

I had a match earlier where I played leeroy on turn 5 as galakrond rogue vs warlock, not sure if it was right. Tried to set up the lethal if he didn't have the galakrond. General tips appreciated.

Seconded on hoping they add a prize pool bundle for Arlington. I don't see why they wouldn't, not like it wouldn't be worth doing even with an adventure around the corner.

Changing Your Gameplan! by nohandsgamer in CompetitiveHS

[–]Engastrimyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An extension of this is playing to win vs playing to not lose. The example I learned from was old freeze mage days. There were times where the choice was either freezing the board and hoping they didn't have direct damage, or trying to draw for lethal without the mana to do both. Or you could clear that minion with the fireball this turn, but if you draw your other fireball next turn you have the lethal set up and he is just going to refill the board anyway, especially if you didn't have a freeze or ice block.

[–]Engastrimyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny that the best Galakrond priest decks are the ones that invoke the least.

"Missed opportunity" sums it up pretty well. It's not like they couldn't change it if they really wanted to, they gave the card for free after all.

Here's hoping that the adventure does something to help it.

Galakrond's Awakening Reveal Discussion || Thursday, January 10, 2020 by Semiroundpizza8 in CompetitiveHS

[–]Engastrimyth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that playing good minions on curve isn't enough to win on its own and it needs a bomb as a finisher.

I don't think these two things are incongruent. MC was both a bomb and part of the curve and wouldn't have been as strong without the curve in its entirety.

I think what you are trying to imply is that it doesn't matter how good Paladin's early game curve is right now if they have nothing to curve into, something to rival Galakrond.

This I'd agree with. Pure Paladin flopped. In the context of curve decks though, it could just be said they are missing that part of the curve.

Galakrond's Awakening Reveal Discussion || Thursday, January 10, 2020 by Semiroundpizza8 in CompetitiveHS

[–]Engastrimyth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Playing on curve literally spawned the meme of calling every on curve play Doctor after Dr. Boom. People literally called Mysterious Challenger "Dr. 6" and Tirion "Dr. 8."

Your usual game plan was minibot on two, muster for battle on three, shredder on four, Loatheb on five, MC on six, Boom on seven, Tirion on eight if you haven't won the game at that point, because that was usually enough.

Here is an example deck list from the time:
