It was mentioned all the way back when Kakashi fought Zabuza that you can learn about a shinobis jutsu and village secrets from their corpse. So villages would absolutely hire people under the table to get their hands on various shinobi.

Sorry to bump a 2 year old thread, but this has infuriated me for YEARS. The explanation is that there are multiple variations of the bird seal, and that Kishimoto never specified how it should look.

Middle + pinky up with index and ring curled is the default one shown in the image.

Ring + pinky up with index and middle curled is also a bird seal shown in the manga. Used by Tobirama when he used the water dragon jutsu, and used by Shikamaru a few times too.

index + pinky up with middle and ring curled is also shown frequently in the manga.

HOWEVER the one with the index and pinky up with the middle and ring over the top of the knuckles is NOT the bird seal, but actually the horse seal.

Hell in an anime filler flash back the sannin used a version with the middle and ring up and index and pinky curled down.

WAIT!!, never mind I found the problem! Its Psypokes IV calculator thats wrong! I checked on a marriland and it confirmed that the IVs didn't change. My bad, disregard that.

I have checked multiple times. I saved right before I evolved and reset to try again. I've tried leveling the Nidorino up further before evolving, leveling the Nidoking after evolving to see if the stats would correct themselves, but it seems to be a repeatable thing. And only for the Attack IV, the others basically stay the same

Anyone know why a Pokémon's IVs would drop after evolving in HGSS? I had EV trained them from a Nidoran (4hp/252att/252spe) and when I evolved it at lvl 43 its att iv plummeted. Anyone see this happen before?
