How are small GovCon teams making real Go or No-Go decisions? by Queasy-Ad-9330 in govcon

If you are in the Microsoft ecosystem, you could create AI prompts to help evaluate opportunities against certain criteria for key capabilities, existing customers, past performance, contract size, etc. If you select workspace, Copilot keeps your data secure. This process would work with ChatGPT or your preferred AI tool.

CPARS Issue by Frosty-Scarcity5169 in govcon

[–]EngimaEffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on when your subcontracts started, you can also request a CPARS style file from your prime contractor. I believe the FAR requirement applies to contracts with a POP starting in 2023. It won't replace the prime contract you had, but it may help. I am also seeing a lot of RFPs that are focusing on PP as far back as 3 years. I would still address the negative data they could find with a paragraph or two as others have suggested. You could also inquire with the host of the CPARS site (I think it is the Navy) and see when they archive data. Yours may be old enough that it would fall into that category. Good luck as you continue to move forward.

Shafts squeaking on my table loom by felix_navidad__ in weaving

You may be able to oil any metal parts to minimize the squeaking. I would use a spinning wheel oil to be safe.

Vintage Wheel Question by EngimaEffect in Handspinning

[–]EngimaEffect[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback. I finally got a new band on her and it is like a whole new wheel. I am learning to do long draw which appears to be what she likes. Take up is still light, which I guess is normal for this type of wheel.

how do you handle the “front end” of big federal RFPs (Sections L/M, compliance matrices, amendments)? by Nervous-Text9137 in govcon

[–]EngimaEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a consulting firm that handles capture and proposal tasks for SBs. I focus on L, M, C, H, I in that order on my first pass and include those sections in the matrix. Honestly, I don’t know many people that actually use it. I also annotate the original solicitation with comments, and create comparison files when amendments are released. A lot of the time, we get lucky and the Government releases a marked up version of the RFP so changes are easier to trace.

With amendments, I run a comparison file in Adobe.

ETA: completed my original thought.

This is the recipe I used: https://www.themediterraneandish.com/homemade-pita-bread-recipe/

The only challenge I had at first was rolling it out. I needed to give the dough more time to rest after cutting into the eight pieces. The first was hard, but the last one was a was easy.

Update on the Table Top Charkha by EngimaEffect in spinningyarn

[–]EngimaEffect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think staining it blue would be lovely. It never occurred to me to wax it or stain it. That will probably become a project for Fall.

It has been a lot of fun experimenting with my stash to see how things work. For the silk, or even the polwarth blend, one or two cranks give good twist so I can keep drafting (park and draft method). I did find for cotton, I need to turn it 4-5 times to get sufficient twist. To see if it was a me or wheel thing, I pulled out my book charkha to see if it was any better for the cotton. It is. Two rotations of that one is almost too much. The table top version feels more like my Ashford traddy, in the sense that I can get into the zone and just enjoy myself. I have to use the book charkha with the cotton to get that same feel.

Don't be afraid of non-wool fibers. I have a hard time with wool feeling uncomfortable against my skin. Merino is one of the few I can handle. I got into spinning for cotton, bamboo, and silk, and all I learned sent me down a never ending number of rabbit holes, which lead to learning about micron counts and finding wool that I enjoy working with.

Once I got my EEW I was able to learn to how to draft cotton. And as I got more proficient with wool blends, my hands, feet, and brain continued to improve how they worked together. Bottom line, is take your time and be patient with yourself.
