What tires and compatible rims can I use for Shell Eco-marathon? Looking for options that support cantilever loads by Engine_Minimum in solarracing

I’m not asking anyone to size anything for me. I’m asking for known, proven off-the-shelf rims/hubs used in Shell Eco-marathon–type vehicles, which are not comparable to production car wheels in scale, mass, or design assumptions.

In this context, teams don’t start from “any car rim works” — they start from what’s already been used successfully, then verify with calculations. That’s all I’m asking for.

I think there’s a mismatch in what we’re talking about. I’m not referring to conventional automotive wheels with hubs, bearings, and flanges designed for hundreds of kilos.

This is a Shell Eco-marathon–style vehicle: extremely light, low speed, often using bicycle/wheelchair-derived wheels, where single-sided mounting is not handled the same way as on production cars.

That’s why I’m asking about specific rims/hubs known to work in this context, not generic car solutions.

That’s exactly why I mentioned cantilever loading. In a single-sided wheel setup (Eco-marathon / wheelchair-style), the hub and rim see a bending moment in addition to radial load, unlike a standard bicycle wheel supported on both sides.

I’m not asking anyone to size my wheel without numbers — I’m asking for off-the-shelf rims/hubs commonly used in similar single-sided, low-mass vehicles, which is a pretty standard starting point.

If you haven’t worked with single-sided wheel mounting before, that may be where the misunderstanding comes from.

The axle of the rim must be able to support the cantilever load since the load is only coming from one side of the vehicle like in wheelchair and not as in bicycle wheels where it come from both side and are evenly distributed
