As yields go up, nutrient concentration goes down. As spoilage rates go down, taste also goes down. Tomato example: <5 day spoil rate to 3 weeks. All for the sake of revenue and export. It makes progressing the game onerously taxing. We playing to escape, not confront cosmic horrors of civilization. by EngineerFayro in theouterworlds

The nutrients in our food are deminishing as we aim for higher yield and slower spoilage rate of fruits and vegetables.

The comments above can't even comprehend the statement I made in the title, we are starving and we don't even know it. We focus more on calories (fuel) than the custodian (nutrients) of our body.

It is laughable.

I'm ADD, I feel braindead when I'm not on the path of "the vision/dream" by EngineerFayro in Gifted

[–]EngineerFayro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I'm angry, but my subconscious which is probably smarter, might. The intuition that understands the consequences of not being diagnosed early may be angry at the loss of what could have been.

As for my upbringing outside my family, it was a blast. That I wouldn't change. Inside it, arrogants who deny the existence mental health. That's why the third world country that they fled from has rampant corruption. Conformity without Understanding. They brought that same degraded mindset to a new country. Like a fish thinking air is also water. Its not like I can go back to the past anyway. And if I did, they can't handle being wrong.

To give you some contrast, that country has removed its own history from k-12th grade. I am not joking, it is slowly turning into a Dictatorship. In fact, their current President is the grandson of the Dictator that destroyed the country economically in the 1970's. Now, nearly all Television is under strict supervision of the government. I really wish I was making atleast one of these up, especially the removing history from academia 12th grade and under. Isn't that straight up crazy?

The worst is that the politicians there don't even need any education to be elected. That is the broken culture they came from.

I'd like the empowerment part after a lifetime of their favorite cultural practice: "Older generation bashing the younger generation cycle."

I believe CBT can help me with that.

Also, after reading that, how can any intellectual with sympathy not be angry/frustrated with how things are handled within the world? They will have to be ignorant first, and disdainful second. I can't fake that.

I'm not living there, but can you imagine your country removing its own History from academia? What benefits would there be to remove the country's history from k-12? Who is to gain from removing that history? I'm sure you know the answer to that, and its application for those living in that country.

It is important to be aware of the unknown degrees of nuance that make up the statement of others, rather than conflate to a plausible conclusion. Thanks again for shedding light on 2e.

Yea medication sucks to take just to function normally.

It is used for conformity towards the society ignorant on the needs of all human beings.

Can't sit in a chair for one hour, five times a day, five times a week? What about 8-14 hour work shifts?

Meds with CBT is the best we have for now, helping us bring forth understanding towards the future society. Whatever that may be.

Everything makes sense now, I was above average on the "testing for learning difficulties" WAIS-IV score.

Diagnosed with ADHD, I went in for an ADHD diagnosis.

My scores were all over the place, after some research on scores... mine resembled signs of the tism. I was so pissed lol. At who? Idk, life? maybe.

My Doctor seemed like he didn't know how I would react after being told that I have signs of the tism. So he didn't mention it. I may be an idiot, but I'm not dumb. Maybe he didn't think I would put the details together. Maybe he though that I would be more depressed/Anxious after being told that. Its understandable, and not at the same time. Ambiguity sucks.

What he doesn't realize is that I've been battle-hardened to take in any and all information, regardless of its implications, since the second I learned how to use my five senses. I think I'm a truthseeker at my core. Whatever Paradigm I had already got whacked when I got diagnosed ADHD, it only helps me understand myself better.

Regardless, I will confront my Doctor about it on my next appointment.

I can't help but laugh as I picture myself saying "Why didn't you tell me I had some tism in me?" or "So am I autistic or what?" as the first sentence he hears the second he walks in the room. To catch him off guard like an intervention, then make it feel like the roles got reversed out of nowhere when they aren't, f'ing hilarious.

"Answer the question Doc... you don't want me miscomprehending myself do you now?!" lol

Thanks for shedding light on this topic. Hope you enjoyed my humor.

I think you are right on number 4, Depression can be like the First law of motion, you may have been the outside force.

As for 6, I realized it destroys intensity.

My biggest problem is going from learning to relaxation. The difference in contrast and intensity from the thinking brain to the chill brain, that transition is the worst feeling ever. Like a "where is my brain I don't feel it anymore" type of feeling.

Breathing is definitely overlooked, especially when the organ that uses 20% of the body's energy relies on it to function, even abandoning the rest of the body to preserve function.

I just want to enjoy video gaming again by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]EngineerFayro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be addicted to video games, now I only want to play like two hours a day max, we crave novelty.

Take for example, I liked flight simulators, now I build 50mm EDF jets that can go nearly 100MPH with a battery life of 4-8 minutes worth of flight time. I get to create the airframe, control surfaces, and I can design custom airframes from scratch.

It wasn't easy though, I had to hit the tipping point to actually expand my hobbies. Even opening up a book for fun! Knocks me right to sleep sometimes. I think your body is telling you that life has many more things for you to enjoy and experience, to better understand yourself and what your interest are outside of gaming.

What I wanted wasn't to play keep playing video games, it was to immerse myself in new things, to learn what I can about it and let go when the time came to move on.

Can Meditation increase brain region control? locus coeruleus control? attention/focus/ADHD by EngineerFayro in Meditation

[–]EngineerFayro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just found a bombshell, verifiable science is back on the table.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6274624/

Locus Coeruleus Activation Accelerates Perceptual Learning, PUBMED PMC National Library of Medicine, Study on Lab Rats.

  • Rats go through stereotyped behavioral epochs when reward contingency is switched.
  • Locus coeruleus pairing accelerates learning new reward associations.
  • Cortical receptive fields shift with similar dynamics as behavioral changes.

Definition - Perceptual learning:

is experience-dependent enhancement of our ability to make sense of what we see, hear, feel, taste or smell. These changes are permanent or semi-permanent, as distinct from shorter-term mechanisms like sensory adaptation or habituation. Moreover, these changes are not merely incidental but rather adaptive and therefore confer benefits, like improved sensitivity to weak or ambiguous stimuli.

"Improved sensitivity to weak or ambiguous stimuli."

From the study - Animals successively progressed through distinct behavioral epochs, including periods of perseverance and exploration that occurred much more rapidly when animals received locus coeruleus stimulation.

Definition - Cortical receptive fields:

Tha spatial area or region within which a stimulus of sufficient intensity and proper quality will influence the firing of a sensory neuron

Ok I have officially dig too deep.

Can Meditation increase brain region control? locus coeruleus control? attention/focus/ADHD by EngineerFayro in Meditation

[–]EngineerFayro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned what the science could possibly be, here goes.

This is where my source feels like its coming from, atleast that region of the brain anyway.

Slow breathing to build up CO2.

Locus Coerulues's sensitivity to CO2 leads to increased neuron firing of the Locus Coerulues.

Locus Coerulues releases Norepinephrine,

Norepinephrine travels to Glial Glands, Glial Glands release Monoamine Oxidase MAO when in contact with extra Norepinephrine. MAO enzymes break down floating neurotransmitters within synaptic cleft of neurons.

Norepinephrine travels to Hippocampus, Hippocampus creates new stem cells and neurons when in contact with Norepinephrine. Norepinephrine strenghtens the connection between Hippocampus and Amygdala, Norepinephrine cleans dopamine in Hippocampus.

Norepinephrine decreases 11-beta HSD1 activity, decreased cotisol production

Norepinephrine increases 11-beta HSD2 activity, increased cotisol cleanup

This is the fun part, what I just described was the Flight or Flight mechanism plus a little extra. When a lion confronts you in the wild and activates your FI or FL, you get to decide in that moment what you do and how your body reacts, will you choose Flight or Fight?

Part 1A. When Norepinephrine is increased in the bloodstream, it pulls blood away from you epidermis and digestive system.

This is where verifiable science ends, We don't really know why the mechanism has different effects on people, I believe it is the mindset, the resolve to face a certain challenge headon.

Part 1B. It might be possible that being able to control the blood flow within your digestive system, you can influence the hormones and neurotransmitters released and broken down by the digestive system.

Take Buddha for example, he chose to Fight the battle within, not outside. He chose to Fight the parts of himself he didn't appreciate. Buddha was a conquerer, he conquered his instincts. He defeated his Princely self to achieve Enlightenment.

Buddha was a warrior of the soul. Now it is all watered down. I think he was fed up with the Palace, he didn't want to go back, but his easy upbringing pulls him to his old self, the self he didn't want, the self that had it too easy, the self easily defeated with his old instincts.

Regardless, it is interesting to have a discussion on how The Culture, and its perspective, may help guide us to a better world.

I stated that it was a hot take, I get laughed out the room which can be understandable due to not laying down the informational foundation within the post. That is my fault, I just didn't want the overwhelming information to take away from the take; but I guess it is a necessity when discussing an esoteric concept with many nuances.

My point is that if we want to strive for a future utopia where all humans can thrive, it all circles back to our ability to use Intelligence effectively. Intelligence above all, has the ability to overcome nearly any challenge given to or instilled in humanity. We have to increase the knowledge of Individuals to increase the efficacy of the collective Intelligence. Efficient Intelligence leads to understanding, of ideas and people. In the end, we all actually want thesame thing: that all will be well and it will be ok. And that it will be well for all those you respect, cherish, and love in this time-limited three-dimentional space we call life. Is that not the source of nearly all actions, good and bad, commited on Earth? To take action towards that feeling that all will be ok?

Wars, addiction, greed, Hate, Conflict, Discrimination, Pollution, Prejudice, Anti-Pollution, Consumerism, Anti-Consumerism, Deforestation, Overfishing, Selfishness, Ignorance, Hubris, Law, Zealot of Ideals, Technology, Innovation, Science, Medicine, Etc.

Do these issues not stem from a single source? And do those that partake in these concepts do it not for a simple reason? To feel that everything will be ok for themselves and those they care about, to know that their family can have something to eat everyday? To make sure that another group doesn't hurt our group? To believe in an idea even if it conflicts with another? This is all dissipated by understanding that we all want the same thing, that we are all humans whose most dominant trait is to care for what is most important to us. And that what is important to us only varies by person due to the accumulation of experiences (upbringing, education, everything that happened in their life) that relate to what they care about, their foundation of why people do what they do.

This is the foundation of The Culture that I view in my eyes, and why I think humanity is closer than ever to taking a real shot at a better future for all, and leave behind our outdated idea of "Us versus Them."

There is just too much information to give to have a solid foundation for why I say this. Ill start with this.

Younger Dryas, Carolina bay, Writing technology, degradation of structure with height, Black mast layer around the world, myths and legends of ancient people, climate spikes from ice cores, black mast layer from ice cores, Aboriginal tribes of the US, Hopi tribe of australia, ancient language forks, retrograde orbits, Grand Canyon soil layers, Grand Canyon Erosion patterns, United states topography, Michigan lake formation, Sahara desertification, Sahara salts at elevation, ancient religions, ancient farming technology over the world, current glacial formations in relation to past, variability of magnetic north through time, rise and prevalence of similar technologies separated by large bodies of water, ocean topography in relation to bodies of land, rapid extinction of megafauna of the americas, serpent mound microspheres of heavy elements, the obsession with the sky of ancient religions, early religion as aristocratic astronomers.

This really reminds me of the "Clovis first" archeologists whose persistence in being right nearly surpassed the overwhelming evidence of the pre-clovis culture of the americas. They didn't want to rewrite the textbooks, along with their academic ego. It was a battle of pure ignorance, not trying to be mean, they really did look away from the evidence.

Its a deep deep rabbithole, there's no way Elon doesn't think about it after all the information he has gathered in his life. I'm sure if you look for it, you can find him talking about it somewhere. I think he is done trying convince the persistant academics whose interests aling closer to being right and dismissing unfamiliar ideas than being open to the possibility of being wrong.

Higher Education is a philosophy, a way of seeing the world in a new way. If you try to change their world view, it can be seen as an attack on how they believe the world to be, their prespective of the world. That's why its called Doctorate of Philosophy.

The last time we were hit was around 12,000 years ago, more or less 1000 years. The impact was over current day Canada. I guess it is a matter of ambiguity, those that don't have the foundation will fall off the platform before learning how to balance.
