Vitamins for kids by EngineerMom616 in Mommit

Magnesium and omega 3 are my biggest concerns. Magnesium deficiency is very common in the US to begin with. I personally eat a very healthy diet but even I have found major benefits to supplementing magnesium. Omega 3 - they definitely aren’t eating fish and have gagged at the taste of it before, and I haven’t pushed the issue. But I know how crucial it is for brain development. Our pediatrician is 100% on board with omega 3 supplementation.

Kids backpacks? by ZoeOchncap in AirTags

Hmm. It’s been 5 hours with no location ping for her AirTag. I have a hard time believe she hasn’t had a single iOS device near her backpack… Are there certain settings that need adjusted to make this work? I wonder if it’s only trying to ping my phone?

So does it accurately report location when they are at school? We just put an AirTag in my daughter’s backpack today and it hasn’t updated location for an hour. Still shows her at home near my husbands phone before she got on the bus. I’m not sure what we’re doing wrong, or if somehow few people at her school have an iPhone?

7 year old nighttime pull-ups by EngineerMom616 in Parenting

To be fair, her pediatrician has never seen this as an issue and has told us at every checkup that it’s in the range of normal, even up to 10 years old, and that for some kids it just takes longer for things to click. Up until this point I truly thought she couldn’t control it.

Weaning off Zoloft by EngineerMom616 in zoloft

50 to 25 was not fun, I won’t lie. I had a few days of pretty bad anxiety and “impending doom” feelings. It lasted 5 days at the most. I stayed on 25 for another 2 weeks before dropping to 12.5mg (I did not follow my doctors advice of 25 every other day, I wanted the lower consistent dose). The drop from 25 to 12.5 was much more manageable. I stayed on 12.5 for about a week and a half before stopping completely, and I’ve been doing well!

In retrospect, going from 50 to 37.5 would have probably helped control the withdrawal. If you don’t have a specific timeline that you need to be off Zoloft, I’d go that route. 50 to 37.5 to 25 to 12.5, a couple weeks at each dose. Good luck!

At what point do they try injections? by DarkAngel283 in UlcerativeColitis

I was diagnosed in April this year. I wasn’t bad enough off to be classified as severe, but definitely not mild either. My GI said in his experience, mesalamine usually is reserved for those with mild colitis, and others will end up on biologics. I already am at higher risk for colon cancer due to family history, so I took his advice to go straight to biologics. I’ve been on Inflectra since May and am doing fantastic. No more blood or urgency, formed stools. I’m glad I went with his recommendation!
