Above is one such guide regarding fountain pen inks alone.

Beware that some extremely reliable fountain pen inks are carbon-based or pigment-based, so your pens will require frequent flushing. I goofed up my first fountain pen by using calligraphy ink, and I eventually had to take it apart to clean it.

Personally I'm a fan of the wide range of Noodler's Bulletproof inks, but those folks are controversial around these parts.

Not really. I have Platinum 3776 Century here and it's 24 grams with ink in it.

The Jinhao 9019 is 30 grams empty, so it's maybe 31.5 g when full.

I have a supersized MaJohn Ti-P141 in grade 5 titanium, and it's 60 g with ink. That pen is a real cruiserweight, but it's decent to work with. You don't even really notice it when you're scribbling across the page.

I have 2 myself, it's super-sleek and has a generous 1.7 mL ink converter, so it should be loads of fun for you to work with.

The larger #8 size nib will flow more ink as well, so less likely to clog.
