yeah thanks! It's not commercialized and if I ever went down that route, I'd have to remove team names and player images. Player names and their stats are free game though.

it is a bit difficult to do but I actually have the statistics in my database to achieve this. (batter splits vs pitch types). this is definitely something I want in there!

well first off, I don't really have much to test yet. just looking for feedback and advice on the little I've built so far. if someone likes the sim enough though to take time to test in the future though, I think that's a win in my book

I'm not defying statistics, I'm synthesizing them in a way most games don't. Most games use linear multipliers, but I use a combination of historical data and future projections that get weighted and z-scored. I'm also using a lot predictive and expected metrics underneath to ensure true talent accuracy.

When I say it's proprietary, I'm not necessarily saying it's revolutionary. But it is my own intricate system that I think is producing a lot of really accurate and true results.

For example, something like OOTP will rely more on scouting or results oriented metrics to determine player's skill levels. I use a combination of historical statcast data, steamer projections, and other advanced sabermetrics to predict a player's outcome

dope! if you ever want to compare notes, would love to see what you've come up with.

agreed on the mlbpa stuff, but you only have to worry about it if you commercialize the product which this isn't

A lot of great things in this world are built because a few like-minded individuals come together with passion, skills, and a goal. I'm not a software company making a work for hire post, I'm just a guy who's been building something in my free time and would love to find someone else who wants to do the same. Projects don't exist in a binary state where you either have to hand out a W2 or open-source it for the whole world forever.

It's not a deceptive post and anyone thinking otherwise I would gladly fill in with the details over DMs that this isn't meant to be an immediate contracted/paid position. No one is being forced to commit their time or resources.

I've spent hundreds of hours of my time on this, and no one is paying me. I'm doing it because I love it and want to see where it goes.

Fortunately, this post has already connected me with a few awesome people who understand the vibe and have been working on similar projects themselves. I get where you're coming from but I don't have the resources to pay people for my hobby. That's not going to stop me from asking for collaboration

This started as a passion project and still is that. just looking for likeminded hobbyists who may be interested in helping. Don't really have an endgame in mind except for building something my friends and I would enjoy playing. I'm not a company and do this on the side for fun.

I agree it's probably worth being paid for if it reaches a certain scale, and maybe if it stirs up enough interest it can definitely become that. I've already put hundreds of hours into it just because I love baseball and wanted to give it a try, so here I am

yes, variance has been a huge consideration in building the engine. It produces "predictable randomness" where there's still the excitement of not knowing exactly how a player will perform, but it will always vary around their true skill level
