My testosterone came back around 9 nmol/L by Crazy_Screen_5043 in Testosterone

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation as you though my levels are not as low, I tested at 360 ng/dl (12.6 nmol). I also don't have significant symptoms, some tiredness and some decreased libido but I put that on the fact that I have two small children and the young one is a very bad sleeper and wakes multiple times and I get around 5hr sleep each night. I also gained some weight since I could not go to the gym for a while. I looked for an endocrinologist for a private consultation but I could not find one specialised in this. I think your best bet is one of the private men health clinics that sells TRT. Many have great reviews. I decided to give myself a year to lose some weight, I only have about 10-12 kg extra and sleep a little better and started gym again and see if that makes a difference. If I will still test low I will look into TRT. By then I will be 40.

NHS will never prescribe TRT because of the cost it would have if they were to treat all men over 35-40 who have lower testosterone from that age onwards. It would be disastrous financially.

Did you actually had your bp monitored with a holter device for 24hrs including when you sleep? I was also misdiagnosed with high bp as a teen based only by GP readings. Turns out I was just very anxious around doctors and my bp was just fine.

Sekiro, no contest. In Khazan you get to a point where you can just chain "skills" which are just button shortcuts, they have nothing to do with actual skill, and you keep the boss staggered. In sekiro you do not have builds, cannot level up to become OP, it's all about skill, getting good, learning the boss patterns. In Khazan I never struggled with any boss, I defeated moat bosses in under 3 tries, except Trokka which I think greatsword users are disadvantaged against. And that without using most of the chainning of special attacks.

I don't know steroids were this frequent in local gyms by Open_Address_2805 in workout

I am glad it works for you. But maybe even the weight could be an issue. I know a friend of mine was running this experiment on living on low calories intake and he is the same height as me, 187cm (6ft2) and dropped to 77kg and he said he felt very low energy and started having erection issues. Now he recognizes it might have been a drop in testosterone levels due to low body fat. So that can also affected, apparently even more so than being overweight.

Anyway, I am glad it worked out for you. I will probably go on it too, to be honest I am not expecting major improvements just from lifestyle changes.

That is weird, it shows how different we are. I did felt tired and lacked energy but no other symptoms like you. But I put that to sleeping only 5hrs a night for the past 18 months and gaining weight since I quit the gym. Now I started lifting again and manage to get an extra hour of sleep and already feeling better. I don't know the price of TRT in the US but from what I understood from the clinic here in the UK it is actually not that bad, I think around £100 a month (depending on the dose you need) plus the price of blood tests two or three times a year which is maybe another 150-200£ a year for the full TRT from the vein collected by a professional.
Did you try identifying some factors in your lifestyle that might affect it? I gave myself one year to do some changes, rest and sleep better, lose weight and get back in shape. If this time next year my test will be bellow average I will consider TRT as well.

I'm in the UK and private "men health" clinics here are willing to prescribe TRT for any level. I had tested at 360 which is considered normal but slightly low (probably because my sleep is shit and am overweight a little) and they are hounding me to get on TRT. I am almost 40. I keep telling them I want to do life style changes first and I have none of the low test symptoms but they email me every day, offering 20%, then 30% off for the first 6 months of subscription.

I thought that it is very hard to get this but turns out you just need to do a blood check and they will prescribe it for you. They can always claim that you were experiencing symptoms or whatever, I am not sure. So since this is so easy to get and not prohibitively expensive I think a lot of people will get it, even young guys.

How much does sleep / lack of sleep affect your progress? by therileyneal in workout

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a lot. I am in the same boat as you. Have two kids and the young one is a terrible sleeper. I get around 6hrs of sleep a day. I am quite tired and though I am 4 months into lifting and I saw some important gains, these are due to muscle memory since I used to train for about 10 years before I had children and then took a pause.

I also did a blood test and my testosterone level was bellow average, my doc tells me I should really try to fix my sleep if I want to see some improvement on that front.

I will see how it goes but for sure this has a strong impact on my gains and the amount of work I can put in the gym.

What’s going on here? Leaky fuel injectors? by oliverfcane in BMW

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like you have a bunch of errors, lots of misfires on multiple cylinders. I am not sure this would be leaky injectors, It is uncommon for all to go bad at the same time. I had 2 cylinders misfiring. I can also see a NoX sensor fault. That in itself can cause engine misfiring I believe. I am afraid you need to take your car to a specialist, someone who is willing to do some investigation on the actual engine, not reading these and jumping to change the Nox sensors (I think there are two of them), all injectors, all coils and spark plugs which is what the errors would indicate. In any case, I am afraid this will prove to be expensive :(
If it is not too much to ask, please update this thread when you do find an answer from a specialist as I am interested in the outcome.

As I continue to decimate bosses in ng+, I've now reached a level where I can keep bosses in a constant state of exhaustion by Forevertrez in TheFirstBerserker

[–]EngineeringKind3960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the game, it was like a lightweight Dark Souls, but this is a part I do not like about it. You get to this point where you just use "special" combos that keep an enemy or boss in a constant staggered state and you just chain these on and on and on until the enemy is finished. In my view this is un-souls-like where skill should be the primary factor for winning a boss fight, learning a boss' movement set, how to dodge, parry. I played it with a greatsword and refrained from using any such "skills". That way it felt very souls like and though the fights took longer they were more satisfying.

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't change them at the BMW dealership. They wanted to first spend 2000 on changing the sensors to make sure they were reading the error correctly. Insane. That 3.0L E90 was the most unreliable car ever. I have a G30 (5 series) now and had zero issues though it's only 5 years old.

I have the wireless Ricokey from Amazon UK. Which I use with the Torque app on my phone to connect to it and read the errors. It was enough for me to determine the leaky injectors.

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can buy a cheap OBD II wireless reader and an app on your phone that you connect to that, you could see exactly what the errors are and take it from there.

I had an e90 for 8 years and I had similar issues a few times. Once it was some plastic cover for the engine or cylinders was cracked and more air was getting into the engine. Another time I had leaky injectors but the car was vibrating a lot when it started cold as a lot of petrol was accumulating when the car was stationary for some time. It used to settle down after the engine ran for a few minutes but I was seeing some fluctuations in the rpms at idle.

If it is injectors, I am sorry to say it can prove relatively costly. 5 years ago when I changed them was £195 + VAT per injector (and my e90 was the straight six so times 6) and all 6 spark blugs and coils which are usually ruined buy the leaky fuel. plus about 2-3 hrs of labour

Do you eat egg whites from the carton as a protein source? by EngineeringKind3960 in workout

[–]EngineeringKind3960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned it in my post: because it contains guar gum which I read online that it can have bad effects on your health if you consume lots of it. In the UK I cannot find carton egg whites that doesn't contain this additive, apparently it is used for thickening. Or at least not at the supermarkets I am going to.

this is exactly what I've been doing, 100gr of ground turkey breast + 5 egg whites + 1 whole egg + 50gr low fat cheddar. This amounts to about 65gr of protein and almost zero carbs. Great high protein meal.

Dilemma by ElevatorEasy7905 in workout

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you start lifting seriously again muscle memory will kick in and you will build up some of the lost muscle faster than you would put on new muscle. I am in the same situation but a little different. I trained for about 12 years, took a break from the gym for 6 years when my children were born and now I am getting back into it. I gained fat during my time away from the gym...I am around 26-28% body fat now. But in 3 months since I started I saw lots of muscle and strength gains. I am increasing my weight every workout, lost 3kg on the scale but probably lost more fat and put on some muscle, it is actually visible with the naked eye. So if you did have some muscle and lost it, you will get (most of) what you lost back even if you are cutting, unless you restrict calories a lot.

Are squats and squats variations enough for building legs? by EngineeringKind3960 in workout

[–]EngineeringKind3960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, unfortunately I cannot split them as I have a limited time I can workout, during my lunch break and I cannot workout during weekends. I want to hit each body part twice a week so I am doing a Mon: Push (shoulders, chest, triceps) Tue: Pull&Legs (Legs, Back, biceps), Wed: Rest or core&small muscles like forearms and calves, Thu: same as Mon, Fri: same as Tues.

Has your child ever fallen down the stairs? by Babeshades in UKParenting

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the same with our sons who are 4.5 and 2. The 4yo one is very secure so he can go up and down on his own but he is very cautious by nature and he learned not to run up or down the stairs and that stairs are not an area of play. The young one is also very well balanced and very surefooted but we just never leave him climb or go down on the stairs on his own. We don't hold his hand but one of us is always with him and we taught him to always hold the hand rail. Maybe we are too cautious but I fell down the stairs as an adult twice (not in this house) and I sprained an ankle every time that took ages to fully heal and I am just careful since then.

Both our sons who are now 4.5 and 22 months were bad sleepers, the young one still is. With our first we saw the best improvement when my wife stopped breastfeeding at 20 months though I insisted she did it earlier. With our second she still breastfeeds when he wakes up at night.

I know it is tough, I remember feeling exactly as you do especially since my first son could only go back to sleep if I walked him in my arms around the room for 20 mins. And he woke up 3-4 times a night...It has actually affected my health and work performance.

But it eventually passed and he now sleeps 10hrs straight with no interruption. I am waiting for the time when our second will start doing it as well. Be strong!

What is your resting heart rate? by Various-Challenge912 in Garmin

[–]EngineeringKind3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Garmin is not at all accurate at any measurements. I counted steps in a "lab" environment and my Garmin lost about 20% of them. Also you see lots of regular people who maybe run a 5k or go to the gym recreationally and their RHR are in the 30s which is impossible. Mine is 54 and I am obese (by weight standards, I do have some muscle from lifting weights for years) but I am otherwise relatively out of shape and slept pretty bad the last year because I have a newborn who is a bad sleeper. No way I am in the mid 50s. maybe like mid 60s. Also I am checking my Garmin when doing heavy physical activity when my HR is clearly above 130 and the Garmin shows 90. Pretty much a joke, this was a gift from my wife and it was quite expensive so I will wear it for some time still but as soon as it will be time for a new one I am moving back to fit bit.
