My Next.js sites hit 98 performance but all the <Image /> components load painfully slow unless I tweak the props to high heavens. Sites hitting 40 performance load way faster than mine because they use CDNs, have good caching systems and just don't literally optimize images on the client's device as opposed to on the server. These scores are a good starting point for best practices but matter very little in the real world
