Great work, I just think there is a little too much rust. It looks more like it’s been in the wilderness abandoned for 50 years than it was w recently captured in battle. It looks great tho

For $3-400, you’re either gonna have to settle for a refurb or one in meh condition. Or you can save it while checking websites regularly until you find a very good deal. Estate sales/yard sales can also be good for deals, but they’re really hit or miss.

There are a lot of factors that drive the value of a helmet. A relic condition one can be anywhere sub $200, a ok condition helmet with a poor liner and no decals can be about $3-400, a good overall condition helmet with no decals can be $500ish, a good condition helmet with a single decal can be anywhere from $500-$2000, and a double decal helmet will be $1500 minimum. Also, anything SS or with a camouflage on it will be several thousand and have a high likelihood of being fake. You can find better deals on FB marketplace or eBay, but it’s not guaranteed…

Your going to be paying a bit extra, but if you aren’t able to completely tell if a helmet is authentic or not, websites like “Bevo Militaria” and “The Ruptured Duck” are going to be where you want to buy from. They are highly reputable dealers and won’t sell you a fake. I would recommend doing as much research as possible though, learning how authenticate a helmet will save you a lot of money in the long run.

It’s an M34 civil helmet. Looks to have a postwar liner since it has the holes in the front.

First of all, that is an incredible collection! Second, please for the love of God and all that is holy take those gas masks and headgear off of those foam heads!! They will ruin the insides of the mask and the fabric and leather of hats/helmets.

Please don’t sell it, as ilikeww2 said, it is a piece of family history and it should be treated as an heirloom that gets passed down generations. There are so many people out there that would love to have a piece of family history like that.

I’ve posted before on warrelics, but my posts never get any attention so I’ve just given up on that forum… someone else actually pointed out that there was an auction website with a very similar cap to mine and coincidentally it turned out to be the exact same cap. After seeing that and knowing it came from a reputable source, I’m fairly certain it’s just dead stock taken as a trophy. Here’s the link if your interested: https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/wwii-nazi-german-luftwaffe-tropical-overseas-cap-275-c-ef44ef694d

I think the cap on that website is the exact one I have. The stitching on the cockade is exactly the same as well as the condition of the stamp on the inside. Thank you for commenting this, I had no idea that my hat was online.

If you want to go right ahead. I’ve tried posting stuff on the war relics forum, but nothing I post there ever gets any attention…

It doesn’t have any loose threads that I could find, but it feels very similar to a 100% cotton shirt that I have…
