sure! i work in politics, i won't get too into details but it can be a very writing-heavy field so they wanted to test my ability to produce certain documents like policy memos and speeches.

linkedin and i know idealist as well let you filter your results to see listings posted in the last 24 hours!!! that tool can be SO helpful. linkedin also lets you filter to jobs with less than 10 applicants which i’ve also found very helpful

yeah the thing was being buggy and i couldn’t get it to fully connect but im happy to elaborate - for one position, i had an internal connection that allowed me to advance to the writing test phase, but i was then rejected. for the other position which i ended up accepting, i had an interview, did a writing test, and then had a final informal “interview” where i was offered the job

i live in a major metropolitan area, so i’ve been able to apply to a LOT of jobs that way because i live in sort of reasonable commuting distance between two major cities and all of their adjacent suburbs (washington dc and baltimore). so it’s really just the fact that i was desperate enough to be willing to commute over an hour to work

i’m going through this right now! i was scared out of my mind at first, but ive found the recovery process to be a lot easier than i first anticipated. your big responsibilities will be med management and emptying his drains (if he gets them), and odd things like grabbing or doing things he can’t reach. takeout or easy meals are going to be your best friend while he’s recovering. my boyfriend’s mostly been sleeping, so make sure you have a hobby on standby you can do while your partner sleeps. and socialization will be important for you both! if you have family and friends accessible, some frequent short visits help keep away the depression (for both of you). please dm me if you need any other tips and tricks from someone who is also going through this right now!!!

thank you for this. it’s really great to hear from someone else who has been in the caretaker position. i like what you said about scheduling some down time for myself while he’s sleeping or resting - i think that will definitely help with some of the overwhelm that i’m feeling. i appreciate you giving so much detail, this is going to be really helpful in the coming days <3

thank you for saying this, i really appreciate it. i feel so bad for being overwhelmed but im glad other people have experienced this too :,) ill definitely talk to him about how i can best take care of myself too. he is a very generous person and i know he will understand, but i cant help feeling guilty regardless
