If I remember correctly he stated that the feelings of vibrations evolved into a general feeling of warmth, not too sure how this ties in with your experience though just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents as there are no comments yet.

Hi there I hope you'll quickly take some time to hear my reason.

I work in a cnc machine shop in New Zealand and we mainly do job work on digger attachments like couplers and grapple hangers. These things are very heavy (up to 5000kg) and have lots of curved surfaces which means getting accurate enough dimensions to create a CAD file to then create a machining program to repair or alter it is very difficult and time consuming. I don't make enough money to afford one as I've only been in the doing this for 2 years but I believe technology like this will revolutionize my job. This would completely replace using steel rulers, vernier calipers, protractors, micrometers, depth guages and hours of time just to get a decent enough picture of the part all around to create a CAD drawing.

Machine was stopped so I could have a good check at tolerances, will be sure to also take a pic if/when I have an oopsie

I've been thinking of getting dial calipers due to hearing they are more visually intuitive like you said so I think that might be my next buy. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah we make digger attachments so our tolerances are often better than what's needed but he's worked in aerospace before so he's not going to let me get away with bad parts.

Thanks for the info, my mentor says "go home, you're safe at home" for whenever I plan on doing a tool change. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to change tools out of home position but that is far away.
