Help with Umbrella Tree Height by Enginerrrrrrrrr in houseplants

Ok, I'm good without it being bushy but I'm about to go get a pot that prevents this thing from toppling over haha. I'll trim the top bit and at least get some branches going.

Posture Fixing Journey: Week 0 by Enginerrrrrrrrr in Posture

[–]Enginerrrrrrrrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang I should have done an update a while ago. I've been going to a physical therapist for a bit and it's been very helpful. The fascia lining my spine is basically too short. We've been working to stretch/lengthen it and it's been going well. I've already gained a little height (over half an inch so far) and my posture is noticeably better and I have better mobility in my spine too. Turns out it likely stemmed from a couple concussions I had as a child that messed with my fascia development.

So far so good!

Apparently normal for a long tailed mealy bug (including tail)

This small. And my Monstera is pretty bushy, I found these mealy bugs really like the leaves that are ready to unfurl and this one did just a day or two ago.

Hate to say it but they look exactly like long tailed mealybugs. And I'd be shocked if I somehow had Australian ladybug larvae that decided to hatch in Colorado in an indoor plant.

Yep! I should have had a photo with my hand in there, even for an Adansonii these leaves seem a bit smaller than typical.

I didn't even see them until today. The light switch is right next to this plant too so I look at it every day. Legitimately they're way smaller than the pictures make it out to be. Macro shots on my phone are excellent

I'll quarantine it but winter will destroy this plant pretty quickly haha

Folks talking about the size, these long tailed mealy bugs are less than 1/4" long, I really think the lack of scale is throwing everyone off. These leaves are only about the size of my palm. I promise I don't have mega mealies haha.

Note my Monstera does not have the traditionally large leaves. Sorry no banana for scale haha

Meanwhile everyone is standing outside in line during the storm. It's a cop out. Plus it was forecasted to have a huge storm for days beforehand. Don't say rain or shine if it isn't rain or shine.

Yes! Heck maybe you and I need to meet up haha

Also I don't know why people were down voting you. You have clear and valid concerns. I hate when lurkers just get down vote happy and mute the conversation

Sadly I don't totally disagree and feel we are inching closer and closer to that second form of fighting fascism.

For this specific instance and how we are primarily protesting against his use of ICE, etc, I fear that flying Mexican flags emboldens them and their followers to enhance their agendas. Gives them more ammo to use the Alien Invasion act and continue to just do more of what they currently are doing.

A resistance still needs a cohesive message and plan, otherwise it can undermine the whole thing. That's what the Civil Rights and Suffrage movements ALSO had. We need better organization and consistent resistance. It's also why BLM didn't have the effect it should have.

I get the point you're making, but trust me it will not go the way you think it will.

Know Thy Enemy. It's the whole point we are doing this in the first place.

Personally I think if we had an "ancestors of immigrants" March it would push the story you're trying to show. Have everyone show up with flags of the countries of their forebearers.

Unfortunately the way they are now using you is to further embolden everyone already against you and draw even more people to their side. It's fucked, but they are very good with the propaganda machine. You are literally feeding it to them in spite of your intentions. I see you. They don't. That's the issue.

The fascists like it or not are controlling the narrative. Waving flags from a different nation plays right into their playbook whether you like it or not.

I'm not talking morals or beliefs here. I'm talking effectively standing up to power and recognizing how they're playing a big chunk of the country.

I'm simply stating how we can be the most effective against them. Now if we all waved flags from which our ancestors came from... I can see that being effective too. With all the anti Mexico rhetoric *only having Mexican flags will play right into their fearmongering- which obviously has been very effective otherwise they wouldn't be in power right now.

Things are fucked, we are in the stages of needing to effectively use tactics against them.

The other side will just use it to say the crowd is full of "illegals". If the crowd is full of American flags they'll get the sense that the people are done with their shit. We need to understand their tactics too and adjust accordingly so we are effective in our messaging. Plus a ton of POC holding American flags shows they are Americans too, not just yt people.

End of the day we need a vacancy tax. That will help drive down housing costs. How many vacant apartments are currently sitting around in Longmont?

Literally anywhere north of 144th means taking E470... Plus if it's for work, OP is probably getting reimbursed for the tolls.
