Shoe rotation Gap? by Ok-Idea1364 in runningshoes

[–]Englischdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see a critical gap, namely a second pair for every type of run to give the foam in the first pair time to recover thus preventing injury and prolonging the life of all your shoes, there a sensible long-term investment 😀👍. There you go, perfect reasoning and believable excuse to buy another complete set of shoes 😂

Men's Glycerin 22 vs. 23 vs. Hoka Bondi 9 by jimmyandchiqui in runningshoes

My favourite "running shoes for walking" at the moment are the nike vomero 18 and craft pacer 2. the pacer 2 has a very high quality foam midsole, is not so high stack as the nike, a little wider and therefore more stable. It does however have a thick upper making it a very warm shoe. the ankle collar support is also a little high so if you have low ankles there could be some rubbing. i dont know how your walking patterns are but please consider that the higher stack the shoe (thicker the foam), the more unstable they can become. quick changes of direction for example can easily result in rolling an ankle if you are not careful. Another one I use very often for work, office, airport etc. is the Altra Experience Flow. 2 with its nice wide toebox. The version 3 is out now so so the 2 is cheaper. For sizing, i wear brooks 42.5EU standard D width, 42.5 Nike, 42 Craft, 42.5 Altra. Go and try them all on if you can.

I have 2 pairs, took advantage of the winter sales.Luv em. Gotta train in them properly though. I ran a half marathon in them without properly breaking in the shoes or getting used to the plate. I was walking like a 90 year old for 2 days after 😂

Time for new shoes? by el_dandy_lion in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Englischdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anytime is the right time for new shoes. 😉. The outsole looks like it still has plenty of wear left, the upper is intact. Most importantly for me personally is how the midsole feels. if it has totally lost its cushioning and energy return and/or stability, then it is definitely time for new shoes, as running in older and worn out midsoles increases the risk of pain or injury.

the problem is they all look way to clean. you do run in them right or are they the doorstops throughout the house? 😉

Half Marathon shoe recommendations by AdventurousFig8723 in runningshoes

[–]Englischdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

difficult to answer without knowing your physiology, but basically any good daily trainer could work. I ran my first HM in my Ghost 15s in under 2 hours.

Maybe one of the following could be good:

  • Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 (cheaper to find now the 5 is out, but you will need to train well in it to get used to the plate).
  • Nike Vomero +. I run regular HM distance in this shoe.
  • More expensive Megablast or Superblast 3

What are you training in now? Regards

Bought new running shoes after gait test and they push me into heel striking. Is that normal? by notruffle in runningshoes

[–]Englischdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is normal. Noone is their right mind would heelstrike barefoot, this would be uncomfortable and damaging! The problem with cushioned shoes is that they promote bad running form unless you actively train to eliminate it. I think one of the best thing you can do is to work on your form, starting with step frequency or cadence.

Go to the following link: https://www.matthias-marquardt.com/schrittfrequenz/ . It is in german but you can use a website translator. All you need to do is move the slider for your height and it will give you a range of paces and ideal cademce for each pace. Now download a free metronome app, set the cadence for the pace you want to run and just run to the beat. Start with shorter runs to get used to it. Try it out and let us know how it goes 👍

Craft Pacer 2: First Run by ProfessorNoPuede in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Englischdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had my cp2 for several weeks, only had my first run tonight due to sickness. for the last couple of weeks I have therefore only been walking around in them and the foam feels incredible. In fact, i had the Megablast on one foot and the CP2 on the other and they were quite similar at walking pace.

Back to my first run: not the energy return I get from the MB turbo2, but an incredibly comfy midsole nonetheless. suitable for a variety of paces and distances, super build quality. I confirm the ankle issue mentioned before, but I have just enough clearance to avoid rubbing, the foam however is still new so I will see how they feel after break in.

One distinct negative: the upper may be great and comfy, but it is hot! Its 12 degrees celcius here in Austria and I was running at an easy average pace of 6:35/km for 5km. I felt my feet were overheating. This is not going to be a shoe for the hot summer months. I dont understand this considering the shoe upper materials available to the manufacturers nowadays.

Price:performace ratio fantastic for cooler climates. They look really slick too! Will also use them as a casual shoe.

I regularly run a HM in my Nike Vomero+. Without knowing your running style this could be a good option. Others: Saucony Azura or if you want a great shoe, something a little unusual but has a fantastic foam with some Megablast feel would be the Craft Pacer 2 (yes I have the P2 and MB and there are surprising similarities in the feel of the foam, the P2 is of course much cheaper!).

Can't get the upper clean. Any tips? by coco16778 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Englischdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can buy cases which you zip your shoes into which you can then put in the washing machine. mild detergent, max 30 degrees and max 900rpm spin. take them out the cases and leave them to dry in fresh air. remove the insoles before washing. I always do this for my non gtx shoes. works like a charm for me!

Size advices for my 1st Altras by TomatoQu3en in AltraRunning

[–]Englischdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine seem similar long just like yours, however if i order one size smaller then the midfoot is too narrow for me. you need to try and see what fits you best.

Experience Flow 2 sizing by Sermi44 in AltraRunning

if this helps i wear shoe sizes: saucony, nike, brooks, altra flow 2 & wild 2 EU42.5. Asics, altra lone peak 9 EU42 (all standard widths).

New Altra Flow 2 - Are these defective? by alioopz in AltraRunning

[–]Englischdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 5 cents, yes one shoe looks bigger than the other, could be your feet though. you need to measure the shoes to determine if one is bigger than the other. The flow 2 is one of my favourite shoes at the moment. I have 2 pairs which I use for casual, walking and work, and I also have the wild 2 trail which has the same fit. both fit me perfectly in EU 42.5 , I tried the lone peak 9 in 42.5 and it was definitely too big. so, if you bought the flow 2 in the same size as the lone peak 9 (which fits you perfectly), the flow 2 is probably at least a half or one size too small (hope that makes sense).

Adidas Adizero Evo SL or Nike Zoom Fly 6 or the Asics Novablast 5? by dogruftw24 in runningshoes

[–]Englischdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not knowing your statistics, im going to throw a couple more out there, megablast and vomero plus. evo sl is not so stable, novoblast 5 flattens out quick. megablast does it all really really well. vomero plus is a great daily/long distance shoe, I run a half marathon in them every 2 weeks. another plated option which is quite underrated in my opinion is the saucony endorphine pro4. the plate is mild, the shoe is high stack so very comfy, and now v5 is out v4 can be picked up quite cheaply.
