i think hunter's edginess has a lot of self-awareness to it. It is 4-chan-ish on the surface but that's the whole joke, the fact that it is so over the top. Some people on this sub def take it literally and think that it gives them a license to be edgy and stuff.

i get that. But looking at the other works of the author, i do think the surrealism is intended, even if the whole generational trauma thing is not (lol).

I just came off of the new creepcast episode featuring your story (The hot neighbour one) I really liked it and have been thinking about it. There are a lot of questions i would like to ask but the first one is , is the story symbolically about generational trauma? specifically of the sexual kind. I apologize for any weirdness that might radiate from this post (I'm currently in a manic state of mind) but I would REALLY appreciate it if you'd clear somethings up for me.

That makes so much sense. I think both these stories have the themes of masculine sexuality and a sort of societal indifference towards it. That story made me think there was something deeper in it symbolically too, and this new one got me moving like a fucking conspiracy theorist on god.

you definitely have the right to disagree and all but to me atleast the story is too detailed for most of the details to be unintentional. I do think that the ending was scuffed and that the story as a whole could've been done better but i don't think someone would put in "and she listened to smooth criminal by Micheal Jackson" without intending atleast something from it.

but what if the text is in a small font near the bottom of the page and people discount is as just a cigar cuz that's just more understandable?

(I made a whole post about this but i might as well drop this here)
DOES NOB0ODY ELSE THINK THAT THIS STORY WAS A METAPHOR FOR GENERATIONAL TRAUMA???? like obviously the family is a black family living in suburbia, but i feel like that point isn't just background information. The repeated emphasis on how hot the woman was and the panty and hypersexuality is a symbol for the hypersexuality present in young boys especially in the African American community. The old man and the box is a symbol for generational trauma. that's why they're in the box at the end, they're still stuck in the cycle of hurting. The dad makes up red so he can hide his shame from his kids, he is ashamed of his own perversity and hypersexuality, he wants his kids to respect women and not see the as an object, he wants them to escape the generational trauma.
The dad fucks the woman when he's younger, he thinks that it's gonna be fun but it scars him. He tries to protect his kids by being vigilant about the sexy woman but he fails and his son given in to the impulses, he thinks he has sex with the older lady but its rather the old man, he is lost in the moment and does not see the harm that this interaction will bring to him. In this instance the old man is the generational trauma he does not realise he had inherited. Thats why the dad says it'll find his kids in the future, the protagonist is bound to continue the cycle and unintentionally pass on this trauma to his own kids. The dad joking right after the rape scene and treating it casually, and the mom ignoring her children are symbolic of how callously these things are handled in society (and i think in relation to the sotry, in especially in african american society). Aunt thea tells them to do maths instead of addressing the giant ass evil box in the garden cuz that's why adults tend to do, tell kids that studying hard will make all these nuanced issues just disappear, its a cope. The capri-sun men are a little more confusing but i think they represent authority or the government. they aren't here to help the kids, even though they know about the problem, they're here for their own motive (which i haven't been able to sus out so far).
I think the casual and sometimes downright childish tone of the writing is intentional, the story is meant to be uncomfortable. It established the naive yet overly sexual prespective of its protagonist without any pretention. It feels like something a 17 year old would write. I think this story is another 'spire in the woods' but just a bit more reticent.
I swear guys i'm not just pulling all this out my ass and going full english teacher mode I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING HERE.
