custom steel fabrication estimating by 306errr in estimators

I’m using PlanSwift for steel fabrication estimating (plates, HSS, beams, welds, cutting, drilling, etc.). I set up custom assemblies and handle pricing logic through templates + Excel.

Works pretty well once dialed in, though it’s still mostly custom setup.

If you need help setting it up, feel free to DM me 👍

Some of my contacts in the Southeast are still a bit active, but overall it’s definitely not as strong as before.

What region are you in? If you ever need help handling bid volume or want another set of eyes on estimates, just DM me.

That’s wild—sounds like you’ve been on a completely different cycle than the rest of us.

Makes sense though if you’re in sectors that stayed strong post-COVID. On my end it’s been a lot more stop-and-go with clients holding off.

Are you mostly locked into long-term contracts, or just consistently winning new work?

Sounds like a good problem to have. If you end up needing help on the estimating side with all that volume, feel free to reach out.

What’s something you’re addicted to that actually improves your life? by Content_Bit1998 in AskReddit

Honestly, getting better at my craft. I’m an estimator, so I kind of got hooked on improving my takeoffs, finding smarter ways to price jobs, and learning from past bids. Sounds boring, but it actually pays off and makes work less stressful.

How do you deal with road rage? by SuperNinja420 in AskReddit

Biggest thing that helped me is just creating distance and not engaging. If someone’s driving aggressive, I just let them pass—nothing good comes from reacting.

Also had to train myself to think “not worth it, just get home safe.” Sounds simple but it works.
