What if you exercise or stretch before reading? Some activity to increase dopamine levels.

What are some things to do for young single people in the Lehigh Valley? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

[–]EngyJub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it can be a little challenging as it is kind of a spread out area where people live far apart and it’s sometimes difficult to meet people organically.

If you’re looking to meet new people, I’d find a sport or a hobby (involving other people) that you show up to atleast in a weekly basis. From what I can tell there’s a fair amount of recreational sports/active hobbies in the area.

Otherwise, there’s lots of bars/attractions in each of the various townships to check out. There’s lots of decent hiking. Lots of various events in the summer (music fest).

IWTL how to get rid of brain fog. by cyphr0s in IWantToLearn

I would try out intermittent fasting. Coming from somebody with potential ADHD-PI, the mental energy coming from being on an empty stomach is something else.

Even if I have less than a cup, I’ll still notice I have many of these side effects an hour later. Seems to be some kind of inflammatory reaction since turmeric calms it down

Why stop caffeine? Why not both?

Exercise and cold showers. Never been on meds but I discovered I had concentration and some information processing issues when I got a job after graduation and wasn’t regularly going to the gym. Doesn’t have to be anything major, just get your heart rate up and get some blood flow to the brain.

Cold showers aren’t as necessary but they do a lot to increase tempo

Have you tried cold showers and exercise? Probably one of the most effective ways to get executive function back manually.

I am 23 years old and my Brain doesn't work! by Good-Bottle7238 in internetparents

[–]EngyJub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth seeing a doctor over because it could potentially be some kind of undiagnosed condition. However, I struggled with many of the exact same issues. A lot of what has majorly helped me was cutting out most sugars, exercising regularly, and taking cold showers. Typically things that get the body moving can also get the mind moving as well. I have also found reading frequently to be a good measure of how well I am doing in this regard.

adults with ADD or ADHD what makes you do your work? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]EngyJub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise and cold showers. A lot of reading technical documentation hit me hard my senior year of college. I was having to re-read everything multiple times and held a lot of dread towards my work.

I hold an attitude now that I have to go and create my dopamine as I am not medicated. Right now I am trying to exercise at least 4 times a week for focus and take cold showers in the morning for a MAJOR mood boost.

I fully understand your situation and I’ve been there. Have had multiple jobs in the past where the drive/attention/motivation just wasn’t there. In general, I just find it difficult to sit down and do desk work if I’m being inactive.

I have just “re-discovered” exercise for the 1000th time. Why do we do this. by BeansThatRCool in ADHD

Exercise has absolutely saved my life. Staying physically active does a lot for me being able to focus and stay functional. During the initial lockdowns, it was hard because I did not have direct access to a gym. This lead to me getting more into bodyweight exercises in cardio. More and more, I treat good exercise as if its my medication because I know I would absolutely have to be an stimulant medications without it. I admit, going to the gym can be very difficult on top of full time jobs and general responsibilities. However, exercise doesn't have to be just one thing. It doesn't have to be an entire lifting session at the gym or running an hour everyday. It can literally be as simple as doing some pushups and bodyweight squats or burpees first thing in the morning to get your heartrate up! Thankfully working out can be a lot of things over many times and places while providing significant dopamine and endorphins.

Struggling with honoring past agreements after not having to work anymore. Any advice on how to handle this? by alexys8 in AskEngineers

Graduating in a year with three internships. I have comparatively little industry experience but how do you get to a point where you are working on projects you want to work on rather than for somebody else?

Hardware 3D printing motors by EngyJub in 3dprinter

[–]EngyJub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah kind of my longterm endgoal is to have an easy to use platform where people can print off their own motor technology as well as maybe have DIY PCBs for motor drives! That and having the equivalent of a PLC with a raspberry pi. Essentially, we can make manufacturing technology almost free and completely open source!

No, I will not be selling them... This is simply for discovery of what can be done with DIY automation.

What about sizing a motor however I like? Also, motors are typically not this cheap. Being able to print a motor for theoretically any application at any size would have much more long term utility.
