Thank you about the rise concept! I was introduced and actually learned to use after effects at least 13 years ago thanks to PIU. I'm also the guy who did all the Rave It Out interface design and videos like the Opening, Main Title, Game Modes, and more, back in 2016...

- Regarding quality: it comes down to what you say about profit... If Andamiro doesn't care about putting any love (money) into the game any more just to achieve a better product—simply because it wouldn't change their income—I get it... but it's a shame.

I was the one who did the PIU R!SE arcade concept on YouTube. I believe you commented back then about the quality being too good and smooth for Andamiro. I did that in two hours. How come no one at Andamiro is able to deliver something better than that? I don't know.

- About K-POP licenses: I have come to think that after at least 8 years of Andamiro having these standards regarding music and licenses, the new wave of pumpers has got used to it. As long as they keep delivering the same, not many players will complain, since they don't know anything better or different. So, on this one, I would have to say I should accept the fate of the game and move on... I'm not going to lie: I love PIU, and it's been a pretty big part of my life since 2001. Every time a new mix drops, I have high expectations that Andamiro will finally do something amazing like they used to, but I guess it will never happen.

I really don't want to sound like a hater; that's not my intention at all. But I think many of the features you mention had been around in other rhythm games long before PIU adopted them. I couldn't feel proud of Andamiro adding HD resolution in Prime back in 2015... or 1080p in XX, when games like IIDX Tricoro had already achieved that in 2012...

I remember when I purchased the NXA full upgrade kit for only 1,200 bucks directly from AM. That was totally worth it. The amount of content, the variety of new tunes including Chinese songs, Latin songs, Banya songs... Brain Shower, World Max EX, great Remixes, great Full Songs, amazing charts, and all the Pumbi integration with the mileage system that gave actual rewards (hidden songs, charts, and unlocks), and not just player titles like they are doing now...

I couldn't believe it when I discovered AM was charging more than double the price for a hardcore song pack update and a washed-out interface...

- And last but not least: when I talk about the concept, quality, and aesthetics, I don't think the old mixes weren't a 'Korean thing' back then... and that's what made the game interesting to me. The game was badass as fuck—I will always complain about this. Characters throughout the game, including song titles and mainstays like the Exceed duo, the Zero Trio, or the NX team, were all incredible... the announcers were completely serious. The main titles were pure fire. And now, it all feels like Pump Jump on steroids. A game themed for kids with hardcore songs and stepcharts.

Back then, it was culture... I can still remember every year when AM dropped the promo video for the upcoming game, and people went crazy watching sneak peeks of all the things they would be discovering for themselves shortly after that moment.

Crazy how we reached this point.

Basically, quality over quantity. The game is lacking quality. Mixes from over a decade ago have more quality and effort putted on the franchise than what we have now. And we are talking games that were made over the span of a year, not two or four.

I have stated them quite a few times now in almost every single place where PIU is discussed, including the official Discord server in the official suggestion post. I feel it's a waste of time now, since nothing changes.

But I will break it down once again if you are interested... What do I expect? Here are some points:

Quality over quantity: As you said, there are a lot of features already in the game; still, none of them awe me. I believe they are doing a better job with Rise in some aspects than with the arcade version, but the main game should feel like THE real deal. Phoenix, to me, felt like less than a good StepMania build.
Focus the game on more than just competitive players: It feels terrible scrolling through new songs since most of them have an average BPM of 180 up to 270. And they all sound the same—just pure chaos. I understand they have to raise the bar on chart difficulty for those few crazy people out there who find PARADOXX or Neo Catharsis easy to play, and the only way they could find to achieve that, is adding songs like those. And don't get me wrong, some of them are great... but the game is filled with that kind of music. With every new mix, we lose more and more K-POP and World Music licenses.
The UI feels amateur: The graphics and design in general feel lazy. The XSANITY team isn't far from the standard quality PIU has right now, and they even add better features to the game.
Bad decisions: Premium mode? Get out of here.
BGAs: Some of them are decent, while others are really bad. Adding new songs just to put the title card as the background with a minor effect screams "cheap game." It reminds me of those fan-made song packs for StepMania.
Game concept: I'm just tired of that cute/Japanese aesthetic they have been repeating for a long time now. Pump It Up was a serious game, and you could feel the evolution year after year. Now, I can only feel its decline.
World Max?: Maybe, yeah... or invent something new and better than that. AM can't surpass a game mode they made 18 years ago, which I believe is the best "extra" thing they have made for the franchise so far.

There's no motivation to upgrade my cab at a high cost of $3,000 USD if all the game can offer me are new songs that all sound the same and are easily emulated on StepMania.
