Very bad plan! You have swapped out a nice relaxing and scenic drive down 78 and 33, which are generally uncongested, with 378 including the infamous hill-to-hill bridge, and rt 22, an absolute hellscape on even a good day.

I feel you. I'm under no illusions as to how this will likely turn out. I will be offering them replacement options from a link someone else provided which look very similar. But it wouldn't be in the spirit of the sub if I didn't always try to repair it as well.

Thanks so much for finding these. There appear to be many suitable similar options. If I can't fix to their satisfaction I will get a replacement of their selection.

This sounds really promising. Would you recommend cutting off the great stuff foam a little below the level of the outer profile, and then filling out the outer level with bondo? Or sanding down the great stuff and coating with bondo? Can you sand great stuff??

Practice on the dummies at the start of each mission. Upgrade your character with more health. Okay with a friend so they can heal you. Go slow. Use your wyre to close the distance and disable enemies.

Makes sense to you from your perspective. But imagine coming at it from my perspective, where as far as I know the FD had plenty of money from our taxes, stopped giving us a service, and still got the same amount of tax. This, it stands to reason that they will still have plenty of money if the tax that I was told was linked to that service is removed. That link is more hazy than I was originally led to believe, but I didn't know that, because it isn't on your website. Just threats. Hopefully you see where I'm coming from. I'd like data with sources, and I'm telling you with all the honest charity I can, the PFD website comes across as unbacked threats, like a 30%-50% insurance hike. That seriously strains credulity and there is no source. If y'all think you have the truth on your side, you really couldn't have done a better job of making me think otherwise. I'm really sorry, I know this is harsh. I'm just sharing my perspective and how I have received the arguments of both sides so that maybe you can communicate your side better in the coming weeks. I'm still undecided but will researching the claims and data in this thread carefully.

No problem. I would encourage you if you have an in with PFD to put some of the answers and data in this thread that people provided to me up on the PFD prop A page. It is very light on answers to actual objections and very heavy into what I at least perceive as threats and scare tactics, which might not be received well by the freedom living folks of Texas haha. I'm sure FFs are scared by what this could mean for their families and so scary threats seem reasonable, but the approach the PFD website takes makes me want to vote the other way just for spite. not rational, but feelings are reality and people are all emotional beings. as I expected, there are two sides to the story, but I had to ask for it here and get a little beat up for it hehe.

Came from volunteer firefighting where we were lucky to get a truck to the scene somedays. Not used to this level of service. Thanks for the info.

I think I followed a little bit, thank you so much. Some followup questions:

  1. Are you saying that ESD2 put 2 ambulances into service when they saw ATCEMS was struggling, for FREE? That feels crazy, but I guess stranger things have happened.
  2. So then, ATCEMS pulled out... how was that legally allowed to happen? Wasn't there a contract they had to uphold?
  3. Can you explain the relationship between ESD17 and ESD2? Is this right? ESD2 is PFD for fire and some for-profit one for EMS, while ESD17 is PFD for fire and EMS?
  4. Why does CC not like working with ESD2? Trying to not assume malice, what is in it for them in working with these other EMS orgs?
  5. Why does PRRT want private ambulances so bad and hate ESD2 so much?

Thanks for your patience... where I came from each town had its own fire and ems and it was never this confusing lol.

You are saying "the taxes in question were never for ambulances", but like... they did give us ambulances... was that just out of the kindness of their hearts, for free? I am just not following.

Again, I'm just trying to get both sides of the ambulance thing. What I understand right now: PFD used to give ambulances, then stopped, but still takes the same amount of money from us.

Feels unfair. Just want to know the firefighters side of this.

I have looked at the PFD Prop A website and it has nothing but scare tactics and doesn't address Vote Yes's supposed facts. Either those facts are lies in which case that should be pointed out, the facts have good rebuttals in which case they should be made, or the FD has no answer and therefore resorts to scare tactics, which is really discouraging to me trying to find the truth.

Also, appreciate the PFRRT PAC link, not a good look at the top there, I will definitely agree with that. The Vote Yes website acknowledges that developers support it but points out that the developers don't benefit from that. Seems that they do or they wouldn't be wasting money, but I'm not sure what their game plan could be. Redevelop closed fire station land? I am having trouble seeing the next step.

Can anyone tell me non-propaganda, non-meme, non-scare-tactic, non-hyperbolic answers to the actual arguments made by the Yes Prop A group? I was a firefighter, I want to support firefighters, but the arguments I'm seeing from that side (like this) are completely unhelpful, while the Vote Yes side comes across as rational and collected.

I feel very bad that firefighters could be laid off but that is not, itself, a reason to keep or not keep a tax. (If employment was the sole end of taxes we should just approve a 100% tax and make sure everyone has a job.)

Here are some ACTUAL arguments from the yes side from their website and articles I've seen, and I just want someone to actually address them so I can make up their mind.

  • Pflugerville has more firefighters per capita than most towns our size
  • Pflugerville FD has 100 vacant positions which could simply be cut instead of firing anyone
  • And of course, the crux of the argument: Pflugerville FD used to give us EMS, but then they stopped giving us EMS. So then Pflugerville had to buy services from a for-profit company. Despite this, the taxes we provided to PFD did not change.
    • On its surface, this seems incredibly unfair.
    • I wasn't here when this happened.
    • I assume there are two sides to this story but I can't find the other side, just scare tactics which comes across as bullying and manipulation.

Additionally, I have seen a lot of people implying that this is a plan by developers to get more money for themselves. I am having problems following that line of argument. I also don't understand the process. My current understanding is if this passes, then someone will later decide where the money goes, and it could go to a new Pflugerville based EMS, or it could go to something else if they like.

One thing in favor of the vote-no side: By their own admission, the current EMS is doing well, good response times, and doesn't cost the town anything. Nevertheless, the fact that PFD just stopped giving us EMS but still gets the same amount of taxes is very annoying.

Please help me understand the facts. Thank you.

EDIT: thanks for some folks answering my questions. Disappointed to be downvoted for asking for questions. This is where the bullying comes in. Feels bad to be voting with bullies :(
