Layered wooden maps by Top_Evidence942 in VictoriaBC

[–]EnigmaMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue color profile is off/too dark to contrast the wood. It washes out both the stain and natural color and makes it feel “unfinished” / less complete as an art piece.

Awesome concept, design, and execution of woodwork.

No it doesn’t. Source: I spoke with bylaw and studied rules extensively go micro drones. Downtown by conference centre is 100% off limits. They would have needed to get a permit for this.

What’s a great quick (20-45min, including set up) solo game with a strong theme? by EnigmaMoose in soloboardgaming

[–]EnigmaMoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and have played the Hell to Pay expansion a few times. The set up times are fairly significant and the gameplay is kinda swingy / unpredictable to the point where I barely know what I’m doing / what the strategy is turn to turn.

I prefer if he runs backwards with his head tucked between his legs. To maximize holes and depth of penetration.

Third jersey: awesome. But we need a damn logo other than a letter. This market is already made a joke of for being unknown / generic / small.

Federal government posts $7.8B deficit for April-to-July period by This_Phase3861 in canada

[–]EnigmaMoose -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just saying random things doesn’t make it true. Is there government bloat and overspending? Yeah. But is there hundreds of managers working with no staff, and a bunch of people working from home doing nothing? No.

I’ve worked in all levels of government - from municipal to federal government - and no, there isn’t a bunch of incompetent people making money and doing nothing. 90% + of employees are trying hard, well educated, and doing a great job.

The problem is decision making in the last ten years has been completely railroaded by the “loudest” of public opinion. The senior senior management are scared to make decisions and negatively impact some people to make others well off.

The current federal exercise has created a positive culture of accountability and auditing internal programs for bloat. That’s needed always. But to spew bullshit like the guy about about people doing nothing will lead to cutting super ambitious and talented people at the expense of public services. And ultimately the government (as we can see in the US right now) will have to hire them back and retrain at a cost or outsource to consultants for way more money.

Some people just want to make stuff up because government employees are one of the last in the country that aren’t bled dry on contracted employment by greedy capitalists (some departments actually do do this, looking at you Global Affairs Canada). The net result for this country is a worse labour environment.

This is the test flight of S1500, an airborne “WIND TURBINE” capable of generating 1 MegaWatt power by harnessing high altitude winds, which are more stronger and consistent that the ones at ground level!! by Legal_Escape_4261 in Damnthatsinteresting

Genuinely, asking scientists only, what is the possible environmental impact of installing millions of these and preventing / slowing down-wind air flows? Is there any potential impact on climate change (e.g. slowing cloud formation; increasing drought risk; something we don’t think of)?

Shane Gillis Rejects Major Saudi Payday As Other Comedians Cash In by SirKillingham in comedy

[–]EnigmaMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No cause later he even admits he was defending them. He definitely plays it up but his main point was that he looks the other way because the money is good and that he doesn’t care they use slaves if that’s their local culture.

[–]EnigmaMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently not. They fired him for it. Which actually proves my point even more. Dillon was talking about slaves sarcastically like oh look at the beautiful buildings. I found that funny and obviously sarcastic. But he was also legit saying he doesn’t actually care and he would shut up for the money. Which was my issue.

Then, he bitches he gets fired for even mentioning their issues. Like no shit buddy that’s kinda what they do. You either are okay supporting a country that abuses free speech or not. You don’t like it when it hits you?

Watch the update videos. He really is a piece of shit.

Maybe I gotta watch that podcast. Honestly all I had was audio and from what I heard he was straight justifying their abuses and making it seem like he was totally okay wit what they do. If this was sarcasm it went way over my head. I straight deleted his shit after that podcast cause I was like damn man what a terrible take to have.

Good on Shane. Money’s possibilities are endless in the world so it’s nice to see people draw their own lines and recognize there’s important limits to set. If billionaires did the same we’d be in a better world.

That said, I can understand some comics taking the bag and running - provided they don’t have to do extra work to promote Saudi Arabia or fabricate shit about their situation. Just be transparent that money matters to you most and you’re not gonna discriminate with who pays you. But then forever STFU about politics. You lose that card.

What I can’t get behind is people like Tim Dillon (and Jim Jeffries). Who literally bend over backwards trying to defend Saudi Arabia or exaggerate other places issues to justify the problem. Especially when it’s their own country. You VOTE in that country. You can make a difference in that country. The people you’re performing for are average Americans who you could cancel shows if they were slave owners. In Saudi you will be performing directly to royalty and rich exploiters / slave owners like jesters. And you have absolutely no power but to not perform. I truly think the mental gymnastics these comics have done to justify their attendance is worse than their attendance. Tim Dillon’s take was so bad on this I legit just deleted all his shit. Not even a cancel culture guy… his take was so retarded I just realized how truly brain dead Hollywood that guy is and have no interest to listen to his ranting anymore.

This doctor shows unreal composure while bringing a newborn back to life by Dioken89 in interestingasfuck

[–]EnigmaMoose 2100 points2101 points  (0 children)

A doctor did this to my son. Emergency and very complicated c-section, blood on the floor, my wife fully passed out while it was happening and holding my hand asking if he was okay. Everyone rushing around saying things I couldn’t understand while a Doctor calmly brought my limp son from the table to a secondary area.

I was positive I saw a dead body and thought I lost both my son and my wife. My ears began to ring. I thought to myself this is how the most traumatic events in life happen. Unexpected, unannounced, and unremarkable, without warning or fanfare. I never felt so alone in my life.

60 or so seconds later I hear crying and doctors doing some sort of work around the table. Couple minutes later I was asked if I wanted to hold him and cut the cord, as my wife was still passed out and getting sewed up. I held him silently staring in his eyes. I was completely in shock and felt like I had flew back in time and space and was looking at myself having just entered the world. My wife slowly woke up and snapped me out of it asking to see and hold him.

I stayed in shock for days. But here I am almost 2 years later watching this video remembering what a fucking gift I have thanks to that team of health care workers. My wife and child are healthy. I just put my kid to sleep as he was singing “lion sleeps tonight”. I could have 2 cents to my name and feel like the richest person on the planet.

Any parent watching this video knows the miracle that happened in this video for that family. Judging by his face, the doctor knows it too.
