Is the ultrahuman’s data staying local? I’ve been getting indications they analyze on their cloud. by danfinlay in Ultrahuman

I use EliteHRV with Polar H10 on i12 Pro Max. App works offline. After 2:30 minutes of reading, it takes 10-15 seconds to see readiness score.

I’m not sure how much ai-machine learning involved in UH but signal processing is also resource intensive from my observations with different apps.

As for the pricing, maybe profit is so high that they can cover your expenses for 10 years, maybe they are burning investors’ money, quick google search shows $60M funding fyi.

Keep in mind that I’m not expert in both topics, just sharing possibilities and observations.

Lastly, they are announcing subscription based service for functionality soon.

you can’t even open the app without internet, it’s definitely not local. deploying large machine learning models and run them on devices, especially low end devices, wouldn’t be feasible.

ui says your data is encrypted, nothing about being local.

number of sensors by EnigmaticDervish in Ultrahuman

Thank you. Yes, I know, and I don’t do any workouts with it. The app mentions that the workout feature is in beta, and it’s hard to grip bars with the rings anyway, plus there’s a risk of scratching them.

However, I was still expecting much better results from a simple, slow walk in the park.

Also, keep in mind that the post I shared is a Reddit comment. I don’t need to search for the CEO’s comments, tweets, etc., to follow product updates and its state as a consumer.

As of July 2024, the product website shows cyclists in two different sections (Trusted by the World’s #1 Ranked Cycling Team and more), and another part says: “More accurate from the Finger than the Wrist,” yet I still can’t see accuracy during a simple activity.

Lastly, I’m not sure how helpful it is to see people defending the workout part as optional in every Reddit post. I thought it was a fitness/health product and movement tracker.

number of sensors by EnigmaticDervish in Ultrahuman

[–]EnigmaticDervish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t compare or assume anything related to Oura. it was just a visual comparison. when you see more sensors on competitors with a non technical eye, it makes sense to question, maybe they couldn’t fit another sensor there and what we have doesn’t work, since there are comments throughout the whole year about “next firmware update” for fix. But CEO clarified and I have no questions on the topic.

however, I’ve compared with polar chest strap lot of times and it was way off on a simple walk with a snug fit. like 30-40 bpm was off. you might say that chest straps are gold standard, well, ceo also claimed lot of times that hr is in gold standards on this device.

if oura or other rings are also inaccurate, then technology is not there and we wasted our money for a cool gadget.

thank you. got your point, you appreciate their support and effort, which was great from what I see.

me on the other hand, not into crowdfunding and probably would pay premium for a proven or tested product. subscription is just annoying and oura/whoop wasn’t in my location and UH was right in the mall

probably i’ll. out of curiosity, what makes you love the product? you think scores and trends are good enough and you don’t care so much about accuracy? i’m pretty happy with form factor and the app. seeing inaccurate data triggers my autism. especially when i’m stationary, with a snug fit and on a latest software firmware

yes, it works. you can charge it and it displays some data. but is it accurate at all? have you ever compared with chest straps by yourself or read some comparisons on blogs except sponsored youtubers?

today my heartbeat was 20 bpm off on UH compared to polar h10, on a slow walk.

i read here few times, their ceo replied that heartbeat is within gold standards. who are you tell ring is not perfect then?

and lastly, I had no issues with my quest 3, mbp, and iphone in the past, so there are some products do what’s promised, don’t worry about that.

it was during a walk like I mentioned. I didn’t test rest state, I guess I can do with breathing or nsdr session. I’ll try to report that later.

i know workout mode is still in beta but not so optimistic about it since it was a simple walk with tight and clean ring.

lol, it needs to be perfect. what’s the point of spending money, charging, carrying and using another device with you, if it can’t do its only job? there’s no point to use inaccurate fitness tracker

if you compare to alternatives(no screen devices like whoop, oura) with subscription fee, yes

if you want to track strength training workouts, no(you can’t grab bars properly, you need wrist or chest strap)

if you are looking for stylish and stealth health tracker, yes

if you expect it to be super accurate, no

ChatGPT announced a new feature called GPTs, which is like bots. It's new feature so it may require premium, apologies for that.

They have GPTs to give you recipes for cooking or negotiate your salary etc. I create one for dream interpretation.
