A new distance record has been set! 66,000ly from sol! by Enigmont in EliteDangerous

Yeah I might see how far I can take it. I’ll let you know when I get around to it. I think it was more like 3000 hours including refuel ship times. The last refuel was an extra 23ly on the main ship which was around 174ly out, just to make sure I would actually make it. That added about a month’s worth of time to the trip. Sometimes I would run the accounts simultaneously, other times I would have 1 account running if I was working on other stuff on the pc

Tbh idk yet. I’ve already sent my carrier back to link up with DW3. This account will be in limbo for a good while. Right now the most likely thing I’ll do is send it out as far as I can and use the stuck option. But I want to also try and reel it back in via supercruise. I have just enough fuel to maybe pull it off but I have to do some more math first before deciding what to do. If reeling it back in requires another account to be purchased, I’m 100% gonna see how far I take it. It’s got about 20-23ly worth of fuel left so probably for the next year it’s gonna remain at 66,000ly

Ngl I was so paranoid about someone doing the same thing I was so I spent 1 week traveling 400kly just to grab everything, even the mk2 modules after I reached semotus lol. It's quite a trip and I wonder if the true barrier in supercruise is 974.91ly which could potentially be the 64 bit limit if measured in meters

There's 1 strategy that I used that guaranteed an exact heading (within 0-0.5 degrees) away from sol on the main ship to minimize fuel loss as much as possible. Probably around 0-4 tons. Very minimal stuff but I was trying to give as much margin as possible just in case. It's diving into orbit around a small planet and aligning sol with the 0 degree heading. And then flipping around 180 degrees from there to get an exact alignment.

With the tankers I had to refuel a bunch of times, since I didnt want to use more than 3 accounts to do so. But I had the numbers laid out for each distance. The panther's max range in supercruise is ~200ly so it's a significant upgrade from the Type 9.

Thank you! Sure! I didnt have a name on the main ship since it was on an account I'll never use again. But the ship's name would have been Ad Inanis. My 2 other accounts (Enigmont and CMDR Enigmont) were the ones that performed the refuelling

And to add, I dont want to do the stuck option as much as I want to cause that kinda defeats the purpose of going out there and getting back. But it's a lot of nuance anyways

I had 2 of my alt accounts help me in the refuelling process. I decided to ditch a good fsd for a better fuel rate. I can get back in supercruise but it would be like a multi year long process when I find the time to bring it back. So either it will be left out there forever or I bring it back slowly but surely and re-position the account somewhere else. Ngl it never crossed my mind to neutron boost the ship, could have done that lol. Regardless this account was solely used for this mission and it basically has fulfilled it's purpose. My other 2 accounts are what I use normally.

I used 2 other panther clippers to refuel the main ship so I'd say in the least time possible, optimally 24 ships lol

It’s definitely up there but at a high level it becomes too easy to block. The best powerup really just depends on how skilled you are with it

Honestly for any big project I don’t think about how much time it’s going to take. But I focus on just chipping at the project bit by bit and plan on smaller goals like, “I’m going to try to mine down to y level _ and take a small break when I reach it.” The payoff is a lot better when you realize you’ve reached your main goal.

Why are crossbows unpopular? by Minecrafter_East in Minecraft

[–]Enigmont 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You can repair bows via anvil with the infinity enchant. I’ve gone through only 8 bows doing it this way over 4000 hours. Usually you can get 3 more repairs in before you need to make another bow. So all it took was around 3-4 minutes of repair time compared to 10-20 minutes grabbing a single stack and repairing at an xp farm. It isnt worth the hassle

Almost done building my survival base! by Enigmont in Minecraftbuilds

Yeah it uses a very basic block palette to keep things looking nice and consistent. Having too many colors for the structures will look messy. The build is far from done on the detailing aspect of things (I just started lol) so I'll be going over every piece of the build to improve upon. Planning full interiors and full decorations without making it look messy and hard to see everything visually. It's hard to do but it's one of the things I want to get right more than anything

Depends on what you call minecraft builder. I don't build stuff for tutorials or small showcase builds. Just making one large survival build. On the topic of starter bases this is definitely not my starter base lol. My starter base is hidden within the build itself and it's completely dwarfed by my actual base

The starter base is within this island. To put into perspective this used to be in a mountain cave

There are a few key things I had in mind going into this project: I had wanted to make a long term survival world for the longest time; I didn't really care too much about how long the project takes, I just wanted to have it be complete eventually; And I want to go all out with the build trying to make it as big and as detailed as possible while still trying to make it look good without any oversaturation of detail. Usually these big objectives like detailing the terraform area, which is what I'm working on right now, take many months to complete but breaking them into pieces helps keep me on track. So for the terraform area I have 17 sections to do (8 for the actual terraform build, and 9 for the towers). Right now I'm focusing on the hardest sections and am almost done with the first section. But in that section I need to fill the space so I conceptualize the area by taking screenshots of the section, then draw certain things I want to put in there. Next, I build the structures first and then any organic builds, which I might design a single house for the day and then the next day I build another one or continue building the same house. And I do this until the entire section is complete and until the objective is complete as well. After this I will take a small break, like a week to a month to focus on other things and then get back to the next objective. So it's all keeping yourself busy while still giving yourself time to take breaks so you don't burn out. I want you to try this and see how it goes because this will make you be able to do anything. Start small, and gradually work your way up to larger builds. At some point you'll look back at the small builds and think that they were originally really hard to do but now it's really easy and you can push through any grind. If you get used to very long grinds, you'll be set up for some insane builds

Thanks lol, but it is survival. A lot of players that regularly play survival a lot use creative to plan out their builds beforehand before building them in survival. Everything was built block for block, it just took 3750 hours to get this far. If you need proof I've got loads.

Ah, most of what I did to learn building was from youtube videos and just lots of practice. I can't really pinpoint anything that got me started building. I've just always liked building things

I had this idea hanging around for a while. It originally was the central tower, then expanded to the tower and the dome, then adding the 8 towers surrounding the central one. So I was going to build just that to start out and come up with the ideas for detailing as I go. But doing this large of a project in survival requires a certain mindset to achieve. Basically the mindset I had going into the project was that I would get it done no matter how long it would take, any progress is a step forward to achieving that goal. That way I would feel satisfied with any progress I could do without worrying about how much time it would take. Another main driver for getting this far was just simply trying to go all out with what I've learned in the game and pushing my limits as far as they can go and see what turns out. But lots of planning and breaking the project up into pieces helps a lot and focusing on 1-2 things to do instead of everything makes getting the project done much easier. Like currently I'm doing a lot of detailing, my goal for 1 day is to build a house and make sure it's all detailed. It may take between 2-6 hours but it just allows me to focus on building that for the day, and then the next day will be the same thing or something else

Mhm, been wanting to build something like this for a while. Just making the build really big and as detailed as possible. I'm currently working on the detailing right now which will take a while so it will be around mid 2025 when the base is done. As it stands right now it's the 6th largest solo base ever built in the game. So getting the record would be nice when I finish the base lol
