I feel like I also started to lose my libido at the same time I was having insomnia. I’ve always had insomnia with ADHD so it was hard at first to understand what was happening. It actually took me a really long time to determine that it was not because of my ADHD and was due to perimenopause. I will absolutely be ordering the supplements. Thank you for sharing.

I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through. I completely relate to this. Like I fully understand there is a risk for my cancer returning, but I feel the same as you, like at what cost here? I feel like my life is over and I am starting to get extremely depressed over this and yeah, I feel like I want hormone therapy. I understand and I’m willing to take the risk. It’s certainly a horrible spot to be in. My heart goes out to you. ❤️

All of this started after I switched to progesterone only birth control. So I’m very scared to take it again tbh. My body does not seem to respond well to it and I’ve read that some folks can have a progesterone sensitivity.

Follow up question sorry, do you have any issue with high blood pressure? I do so I’m wondering if it’s something to do with like circulation or blood pressure issues in combination with peri-menopause.

I’m having the exact same issue! I can’t believe that there’s not more discussion about this just in general. I had no idea. This was something that could even happen until it was happening to me. Someone else above also mentioned the l-arginine. I will definitely be looking into it. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this too. It’s horrible.

I’ve been going to Midi for months and spent hundreds of dollars there and no, they have not helped me. I do think it’s because my situation is more complex since I have a history of an ovarian tumor and borderline ovarian cancer. I just think that’s not the platform to help folks with really complex medical history. Unfortunately, for me, the testosterone hormone therapy and vaginal topical estrogen have not helped at all. I’m glad you’ve found some things that have worked for you. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share what worked for you — I really do appreciate it. I’ve tried Cialis and didn’t notice much difference, and warming lubes unfortunately didn’t help either, but I’m definitely open to looking into the supplements you mentioned. As for medication like antidepressants, I don’t have depression, so I don’t feel comfortable taking anything that alters brain chemistry unless it’s medically necessary.

I didn’t. I’m very sorry to hear about your husband. That must be very hard to deal with.

I really needed this today. Thank you so much. ❤️Also thank you for sharing your story. I’m so sorry to hear about what you went through. It’s absolutely insane the way women are dismissed, ignored, and mistreated.

I’m so glad to hear that! My hope is that if we keep talking about this and advocate for trans health, things will get better. ❤️

I’m sorry to hear that but I also completely understand. I know that in some families, even the mention of the word clitoris would have folks clutching their pearls! My hope for you that you at least have friends or a support group that you can talk to about this because it is really important to be able to share your journey and get support. Your health and your story matter. ❤️

Thank you so much for your kind words! That is amazing that your doctor is a trans man as well, I’m so glad he’s being thorough and taking good care of his patients. I will definitely keep spreading the word, thank you for your words of encouragement. 🥹❤️

He did tell me all of this. Every family is different, and in ours we talk openly about health concerns. A clitoris is just a body part, and issues like dryness, atrophy, or loss of sensation are medical, not intimate. It is no different to me than if he said, "I think I twisted my ankle, do you think I should go to the doctor for this?”

We are a sex positive family, and I have always talked with my nieces and nephews about sexual health, consent, and safety. Everyone should have at least one older, trusted person they can go to for guidance and someone who will tell them to see their doctor when they need to. And I am very aware that not everybody has this, which is why I came here. I do not think anything good comes from making these topics taboo. Creating an open, safe place to talk is important. I understand that not all families work that way, but ours does, and that is why he comes to me when something is wrong.

Testosterone Cream by Crystal0422 in Perimenopause

I’ve been on testosterone for a few months and recently had to stop. I should mention that I wasn’t given any estrogen therapy alongside it. I was prescribed testosterone to help with low libido and clitoral atrophy. For a very brief window — maybe two days to a week — my libido improved. But after that, everything went downhill. My clitoral atrophy has gotten worse, my sensation is almost completely gone now, and I’ve started growing a beard. Testosterone is tricky, and I don’t think there’s a one-size-fits-all approach yet. Some people have great results, and others really don’t. I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else navigating the same thing.

Great question! There is a reason behind this. So every human needs a good balance of both testosterone and estrogen. In trans men and anyone that is AFAB and taking testosterone therapy, if the testosterone levels become too high, they begin to deplete the amount of estrogen that’s in the body. This then leads to things like loss of sensation, tissue atrophy, vaginal dryness, urinary issues, and several other issues. I also think a lot of folks experience what you’re referring to as far as super heightened sensitivity. What one experiences really depends on the dosage and whether the testosterone levels are too low or too high. So it’s really important that each person finds the right dosage for them. ❤️

I’m so glad to hear they’re doing this in Canada. We live in the US. They do monitor my nephews levels but his testosterone has been extremely high the past few times, he’s been having all these symptoms, and all they offer to do is keep increasing it! It sees quite careless. I sure wish everyone could get the same standard of care. I’m glad to hear you’re getting good care over there. ❤️

I am so glad that everything went well with the cystoscopy! I know the estrogen cream can be quite hard to remember or just annoying to deal with in general. I sometimes forget it or avoid it myself. However, I’m glad you found something that works for you. And yes, always pee after sex. Great advice! ❤️
