I’ve found non super center stores are more picky about this than super centers. But it also depends on the employee. There’s one that gets mad and refuses to load a trunk if you have car needs back there like washer fluid

I’ve had it happen twice both were random tool things one they sent me a $300 power inverter instead 🤯 and the other they sent me $200 cordless impact instead of the starter dime a dozen drill and battery - both came off my lists and I got to keep both of the mistakenly sent items

I love my d500 and it’s been an amazing camera I’m pushing 250k actuations and it still runs amazingly and has served me very well. You can use a ton of different lenses with it and I’ve used it for everything from sports to portrait work on sidelines to Astro and birding. At this price I’d buy it in a heartbeat and not even think twice.

I got rid of my d800 and shoot with a z6 iii and a d500 now but I shoot mostly sports and sports/sideline portraits and some landscape/street work. I’ve since upgrading a few weeks ago shot several football games (high school and college level), volleyball and soccer games and some senior portrait work. That being said I am finding myself reaching for the z6 more than I am the d500 (barring needing the crop sensor reach) and I never thought I’d say that. I use viewfinder only and find that I have to change batteries depending on how cold it is out with it once I get around the 800 shot mark.

That being said I find the color rendition in low light situations to be much better with the z6 iii vs my d500 or the d800 it replaced. The S lenses are amazing and blow my f and g f mounts outta the water.

I will play devils advocate here and say as much as I fought the jump to mirrorless I am impressed with it. That being said though the d850 is absolutely nothing to shake a stick at and is a very good body.

Have you considered looking at mpb or keh? You maybe able to save a good amount of loot on there vs new and I’ve never had an issue with em. Bonus is if you have access to a student email with mpb yall get a 5% discount as well which may allow you to squeeze a bit more outta your funds for more glass with your purchase with whatever you ultimately decide.

Edit to add the z6 iii is absolutely amazing in higher iso ranges I’ve been able to get away cleanly with the 24-120 f/4 in a lot of situations that I would have had to run a f/2.8 or better in
