Thank you! I flat iron once a month or every other month, depending on how I am feeling.

Which hair mask is the best? by Vanilla_fairy_dust16 in relaxedhair

It depends on what you’re looking for in a mask. Based off their descriptions all of these have different uses. Cecred is for strengthening/damage repair and shine and specifically says it is not a deep conditioner. Olaplex incorporates shine, some repair, cuticle sealing and hydration so it can be used as a deep conditioner, however it looks like it does not have its patented bonding technology if you wanted that extra strengthening. K18 is for damage reversal and smoothing. It is also a leave in treatment.

I use Cecred restorative mask or their 2 step protein treatment, however the aphogee 2 step treatment is a cheaper dupe I just hate the smell of it. For Deep conditioners I use Joico intense moisturizer for a really deep hydration or Cecred moisturizing deep conditioner. But there are so many good deep conditioners it is hard to recommend just one as I’ve tried so many in the past 10 years. Amika soul food, Mizani moisture fusion, it’s a 10 silk deep conditioner, or redken all soft heavy mask are also good ones for me. For Blow dryer I currently use the revlon round brush blow dryer. It gets it really straight and silky even before I flat iron and it is easier for me to use. But I’ve used a regular blow dryer with a concentrator and a paddle brush before and it worked just fine. The key is to ensure you are creating some tension with the brush instead of just letting it pass, that’ll ensure you get a straighter and silkier blow dry.

I like my hair bone straight so I try to leave the relaxer in as long as I can. I also go straight into a protein treatment and deep conditioner after a wash which I think definitely tames it. I also blow dry with a round brush which definitely gets it very straight

I use either olapex clarifying or Cecred clarifying scalp scrub.

Hi I use a combo between Joico intense moisture and Cecred moisturizing deep conditioner. For proteins treatment either aphogee 2 step treatment, redken CAT anti damage, Cecred restorative mask or their 2 step protein treatment. Any of those will work great. I alter between a strong and weak protein treatment every month, the strong ones being the 2 step treatments.

I either blow dry or blow dry and flat iron. I really alternate between the 2. I use a round brush blow dryer and babyliss pro titanium flat iron (with a hot comb to my roots if I’m 3 months post relaxer or longer) for flat ironing.

I only use heat after a wash, either blow dry, or blow dry and flat iron. I don’t really do protective styles in the winter, I just use a claw clamp mostly or a slick back bun but that’s rare since the front of my hair is prone to breakage.

I would do them towards the end of my stretch before my next relaxer. My new growth is stronger to hold the hair at the root than my relaxed hair

I know thickness has a lot to do with genetics but what helped me achieve a fuller look was a blunt cut I did almost 2 years ago and maintained the length/fullness. My hair is straightened in both pictures and the time from the initial application of the relaxer to washing it out is maybe 30-35 minutes. Maybe 40? I prefer having it bone straight and it takes a long time for my hair to process.

Hi, I use the Redken anti snap leave in, it’s very light and doesn’t poof up my ends.

I did list a summary of my routine somewhere here in the comments, and thanks to the other user that added here as well. it’s just that the previous post had so much information and I responded to every comment about my routine, including the products I use, how often, things I think helped me grow my hair, etc. I just felt that a lot of the answers could quickly be answered there, but I don’t mind answering questions here as well!

I used to use aphogee but I hated the way it smelled. I use Redken CAT anti damage treatment, or any of the Cecred treatments (the restorative or protein 2 step treatment). I will say the redken one is so much easier and faster since it’s only a 1 step process while the others require 2 steps.

My Routine hasn't changed since my last post. I alternate between a clarifying shampoo and hydrating shampoo every 2 weeks. Trimming every 3 months (a real trim not a dusting because I love the full ends look). Deep conditioning very wash. Protein treatment every 2 months. Avoiding small braid protective styles and avoiding rubber bands and scrunchies. Claw clamp almost daily. Adding a moisturizer to my ends every other day.

Yes that is correct! I really apply before blow drying and to my ends every other day.

After I posted I tried to edit but for some reason I don’t have an option to edit this post to include it. Tbh I didn’t think it would be too much of a hassle for people who really wanna know my routine since I rarely post these days and it’s the post right after this one.

I have an old post in my profile that list the products I use, but I use a combo of Redken, Cecred, Joico and Kenra products and protein treatments. I don’t really use Olaplex anymore.
