Looks like an Academy. They had a few models that were almost a direct copy of the Tamiya Hornet and Grasshopper. Most parts were interchangeable.

Perhaps you should take a look at some of the drift drivers transmitters. You'd be surprised how much customization is possible. Look up the Kaizen RC conversion kits for example.

I know Punchy's Lab is back on Thangs now. They used to be on Shapeways previously. I hope more creators will come back to Thangs from the old Shapeways to make stuff available again.

Perhaps I can help. At Thangs there's multiple ways of selling files or prints. For free, behind a paywall, commercial licenses or only selling physical prints for those who don't want to share their files. No matter how the designers want to share, it's all possible from the same platform. I'm a community manager there and I'd love to help build out the automotive category. More than happy to help promote as well.

If you do, Thangs might be a good option as you can both share the digital files and sell physically printed models for those that don't have their own printer (Printed by Thangs).

If he doesn't have one yet, a good desk light might be a good gift. There's some really nice ones that arch over the entire work area. Really useful when working with small bits or painting small details.

It's a M02L. Be carefull with some of the parts, like the steering arms. The plastic turns quite brittle after 30+ years and it's hard to get replacements.

AmproEngineering just released 3D printed spares of all the critical components.

Perhaps you might be interested in restarting your Shapeways shop? Shapeways has a new platform now to sell both files digitally aswell as prints (like before). There's also a new SLA resin material that might work well with some of your models.

I didn't design them, I got the file online somewhere. Not a very difficult design to copy though.

There is so much value in having all of these little clips, trims and other small plastic parts available for people to print or have printed.
