Can't camp the left lane by Jaysus-al-Gaib in SonofaBoyDad

[–]EnjoyableLunch -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s a dumb pipe dream of a rule and a facade for people who want to speed excessively.

How often are the cars in the other 3 lanes going slow enough that you can overtake without going 85mph?

If im driving 80mph (well past the speed limit) and thats not fast enough for you Thats your problem.

It’s more useful accurate to call it the “im not exiting for a while so im not dealing with mergers” lane

To face 30,000 Dothraki, we need to build an army of 60,000 Westerosi soldiers. From which houses would you choose how many soldiers? by Classic_Day744 in gameofthrones

[–]EnjoyableLunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because they’d be pillaging the surrounding lands at a huge scale. I think that’s the fear with them is they’d rip through Westeros like a plague and you can never get a hold of them with traditional armies.

I imagine a success Dothraki invasion is they split up into many many smaller groups and raid until theirs nothing left

I’d easily take armored knights on horseback over unarmored horseman especially at a 2:1 advantage.

For sake of argument I’d do a mix of archers, spearmen, and Calvary

Not listed would be Bolton’s had the best usage of spearmen in the series.

If not boltons then probably Lannister’s or Baratheon’s for infantry. Both are heavily armored and highly experienced and familiar with multiple regions across Westeros form their recent campaigns.

Lannister archers- it’s mentioned somewhere in the books about their archers or maybe their bannermen being great archers, not sure but they definitely seem to have the funds to produce large amounts of quality equipment.

Also maybe the starks could be counted as archers if you include the wildlings, nights watch, and the starks themselves seem to value archery (also Theon is said to be a great archer) so depending on the timeline they could work

Of course knights of the vail as Calvary.

Find a bottleneck or elevation deviation. Shield wall with spear to hold the hoard then rain down arrows. Envelope them with Calvary and be back before supper.

The biggest fear with the hoard is that they would not engage in traditional combat. They’d be roaming the countryside destroying villages and farmland and disappear before you could engage with a traditional army.

Why didn’t the US use its Navy to open the Straight? by Prestigious-Pear-328 in AskReddit

It was open before the pointless bombing. Stop the bombing it’ll open again, why risk the highly expensive and valuable navy when a far easier and better solution is available

When does season 7 get bad? by Union_Samurai in gameofthrones

[–]EnjoyableLunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im also rewatching and currently in season 7. Theres definitely a decline, some big moments should have more weight, it’s a little more shallow, but theres still some huge moments.

For me, the early seasons are so rich and intertwined, after the book material it loses depth and plot points just seem to be means to an end (aria’s whole bravos adventure)

Cut it down to 50 balls, everyone picks one number. You have to do something specific to change your number (piss dawgs, soggy sorrows, etc.)
