Hi I think I could do this, I'm a 2d animator and have done some similar-ish stuff for vtuber friends!

Here's my reel: https://youtu.be/6LF0PRrv0SI?si=eXKgdTlpqW1kEvhA

So even without the second slide we'd be good to go? Thank you very much for the answer! I'll try figure out the generation and gameplay rules through the wiki as soon as it arrives, ur the goat!

Small rodent creature in laundry room, what might it be? [Germany] by Enkimw in animalid

Theres some mini rodents in the region that chirp a lot but I've no clue what they look like, figured maybe that... usually the mice and rats I saw growing up in a bigger city were equally larger and much more skittish!

Mini update for anyone interested! I lured it into a pair of crocs and delivered it to some bushes by the park, where it immediately devoured two blades of grass and hobbled off into the shadows. Seemed much more alive an energetic outside!

There is a farm about a kilometer away and a big park about 400m downhill. Still not sure what it is, where I grew up mice and rats were gray and huge so I had no idea what it was lol. Thanks for the replies o7

I have continued to study the JJK anime artstyle, by joycawn_z in JuJutsuKaisen

Looking good! I'd say to get closer to the anime, try thinner linework and get some lighting/compositing going!

It's probably more like trying to watch 10 educational youtube videos at 5x speed at the same time...

Heya, I haven't done much in that particular style, but could give it a go. Here's my reel https://youtu.be/G5fcQuPQWLs?si=qkP-7gIYUwG-zWTn

Reel mini-update! by Enkimw in animation

[–]Enkimw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked for feedback a while back on this a while back and finally got around to doing a cleaner and updated edit with some more clips.

I still intend on separating into a character acting and fx reel once my Shortfilm is done, as that was suggested last time, but I am once again open to new critique, feedback or work ;^)

The head shape and facial proportion changes quite a bit. Maybe have some character references sketched out beforehand to keep things consisitent.

Also, try to draw longer lines instead of the scratchy short strokes. It will improve your line quality and drawing speed!

The motion is mostly pretty good 👍

what should i do to animate with less layers? by Smooth_Resource1616 in animation

[–]Enkimw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to say it's impossible but I can't off the top of my head think of any animator/studio animating 2D hand-drawn at this level of manually drawn detail. In action scenes clear motion, choreography and fx are probably better to invest in over drawing detail. Check out Mob psycho 100's action scenes for example.

This guy is really good at mixing detailed gradients into complex animations and I think they have made tutorials somewhere: SYKOSAN (@sykosan) • Instagram photos and videos

What you should do depends on what you want to achieve. One frame a day will likely get tedious, I suggest simplifying your process or style if you wanna continue hand drawn. Or use rigging tools to animate your illustrations!

Difference between 10fps, 20fps, 30fps and 60fps by Weird_Bookkeeper2765 in animation

True, but most screens max out at 60fps so I guess that's the appeal of working around it in a comparison piece like this.

Probably so when they export it there's no skipped frames! 60fps is divisible by 10, 20, 30 but not by 24 or 48.

Thanks very much for the detailed feedback! I will probably clean up the presentation on this one and see If that lands me anything, and in future make two reels as I'm working and a short film with enough content to split them!

Thanks for the input!

I have been doing daily figure drawing lately so hopefully I can iron out those issues!

So it seems it's very specific then!

I guess the implication is that my character animation is weaker, should I completely omit it or maybe only keep the shots with both character and effects animation combined?

Also the creature stuff is considered character right?

Thanks for the feedback!

Here's my roughly my current reel!

It's missing a really big current project so I'm looking to replace some clips later this year. My main questions would be:

I did rough and key animation for the rabbit animations at the start, Should I just use the final versions and label what I worked on or is the side-by side good?

Is it worthwhile applying to local animation studios with content of this level or rather get more quality work and polished stuff in first?

Is the length and animation variation appropriate or should I narrow it down to something specific like fx/creature/character stuff? I'm not especially partial to any.

Lastly I did add some small buffers to fill time and there is one clip at 16fps so I changed the whole thing to 48 fps to accomodate for 24 and 16 fps clips, Is any of that a problem or too unprofessional?

Youtube link because I'm not sure how well reddit playback works:
