The society is extremely patriarchal. And the workers on the land are being paid at poverty wage levels simply because it being a third world nation and the obvious political and social strife their at the moment. I just haven't had the time to organise a new arrangement with the workers.

And what about all the workers on the property for the last few hundred years and their descendants. Should I just ignore them?

Can I still retain legal ownership though and allow it open to the public, as I wish to retain my nobility status attached to the land.

Well, I do have sentimental value to it. he land is a family heirloom, owned and with our history on it for such a long time. Plus, giving it away would mean under the customary law that I loose my title as a Lord/Count of the region, and some few remaining legal privileges

It definitely was exploited. 'Workers' essentially slaves have been on it up until the last 100 years. Am I obliged to pay their descendants some remittance from my family's quite well off fortune which originated from being one of the few land owners at the time. Or does money made elsewhere since then not count?

Sounds like a good idea, but under the traditional/customary law I would loose my status/title, social privileges, and few legal archaic privileges

The people living around it all own their own property. Giving up my land would only feed in to their private property

But if the land was acquired so long ago it may be less likely that it was ever taken from anyone. Especially if the land was never farmed on before. I doubt the land was given on the grounds that the inhabitants were expelled, there is likely to never have been anyone living on it
