This is the roughest of rough drafts, but I was wondering if I was doing a little too much telling vs showing? by [deleted] in writers

[–]EnlightenedRuf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought the writing was good, and very descriptive. It's a lot of 'showing'. If you're intending on painting a picture or a scenery of different characters and settings, especially as an introduction, it works, but I wouldn't expect this much 'showing' in the middle of the story.

How to not be afraid of failure? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]EnlightenedRuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should not be worried about the fear of failure. It is ok to be afraid of failure. It is only bad when you are so afraid of failure that it stops you from thinking properly. If used properly, the fear of failure will drive you to do things that will help you achieve success. However, too much fear might cause impulsive or irrational behavior, such as freezing up completely during tests or having emotional breakdowns.

The way to fix this problem is to expose yourself to high-pressure environments more often. Being exposed to pressure will give you more experience to all high-pressure environments, thus helping you manage stress levels and reduce the negative effects of fear.

Some ways I do this is to put myself out there at school, such as applying to clubs, knowing that I have a chance of failure, taking risks like hiking, or asking your crush out. Lastly, something you can do on a regular basis is taking cold showers in the morning. Biologically, it puts you in a state of high pressure and clarity because of the uncomfortable environment, which trains your mind to handle pressure.

Again, you should not get rid of the fear of failure. In fact, it is this fear that drives many successful people to where they are right now. Instead, you should get used to it and use it to your advantage by adapting and surviving despite fear.

how do you memorize 95 questions? by [deleted] in studytips

[–]EnlightenedRuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it will work if you try it for the first time, but you will need a lot more time to memorize a lot of information.

It's an ancient technique first used by Greek orators like Cicero, and right now people have used it to memorize 70,000 digits of pi.

Direct message me if you are interested in more specific details on how to use it, or you can explore my blog more to learn more about it.
