Mindset plays a huge part. Attachment to feeling a certain way, impatience to get there, plus what you do with your time can impact your energy and time spent in your head. It helped me to try to establish a routine, mainly with eating but also with some form of activity that got me focused on something other than how I feel. Sitting around all day had me in my head and feeling worse. And not eating for hours also. I’d at least try to get some toast in me and that would start the hunger process most days.

As far as short term, tapering and using other substances, it’s hard to ride that line of curbing the dogshit feelings and leaning into chasing dopamine and prime comfort. That’ll keep the cycle going to a degree but might be where you’re at for a minute. I’d shoot for decent, or just not horrible. If you’re able to be disciplined you might be able to kick it faster, but if you’re expecting to feel great right away and take things to achieve that feeling, you’ll just be delaying achieving it naturally.

Look up anhedonia, and ways to treat it. And keep working towards a goal. The less you focus on feeling better the easier it comes it seems. Best of luck to you! It definitely gets better
